Débora Saraiva, the inspiring young woman who left behind the interior of Bahia, a small town with about 10,000 inhabitants, to venture alone to São Paulo in pursuit of her dreams. Courage brought her to the big city as a model, and over the years, she carved out her space. A graduate in fashion from FAAP, at 26 years old, and with a background in Marketing.
Her journey is marked by sweetness, dedication, and, above all, humility. Débora not only captivated brands and followers but became a voice for those seeking inspiration from stories similar to hers. "Do your best in the condition you have until you have better conditions to do even better," is the motto she carries with her, a powerful philosophy from Mário Sérgio Cortella.
Leaving the interior to pursue a modeling career in São Paulo, Débora faced monumental challenges. But courage was her ally. Débora believes in the beauty of being unique, even in a scenario where many project an unreal image of themselves.
Read the exclusive interview with Débora below:
1. What were the greatest challenges you faced when leaving the interior of Bahia to pursue a modeling career in São Paulo?
Embarking on the journey from Bahia to São Paulo in pursuit of a modeling career presented monumental challenges. Without support, encouragement, or assurances of work from friends and family, my greatest obstacle was learning to be courageous in an environment I consider worlds apart, coming from a small town with just ten thousand inhabitants!
2. How did your fashion education at FAAP contribute to your professional growth and influence in the industry?
My fashion education at FAAP was a fundamental piece for my professional growth. It shaped my mind and perception of fashion, making everything more accessible and light after graduation.
3. Tell us about your experience as an influencer and how you use this platform to inspire people with similar stories to yours.
As an influencer, I discovered my happiness in doing what I love. I've met incredible people, owners of brands who have become great friends, and whom I deeply admire. Nothing has been easy up to this point; I know I'm only just beginning, and there's still much to learn and experience. My message to those starting now: "If you get tired, learn to rest, not to give up."
4. In addition to fashion, you are pursuing another degree in marketing. How does this second education influence your approach as an influencer?
In addition to fashion, my marketing education profoundly influences my approach as an influencer. From the very first day I started working with Instagram, I realized that marketing is intrinsically present in everything we do.
5. How do you balance the sweetness and dedication that brands admire in you with the demands of the digital world and your career as an influencer?
Balancing the sweetness and dedication admired by brands in the digital world is simply by being myself. In a scenario where many project an unreal image of themselves, I believe in the beauty of being unique. If you are born a beautiful lotus flower, don't try to be another flower, be a beautiful lotus flower!
6. The quote from Mário Sérgio Cortella that you mentioned is powerful. How has it become a motto in your life and professional journey?
The powerful quote from Mário Sérgio Cortella has become my motto. I encountered it three years ago, and it has stayed with me ever since. As a perfectionist Virgo, I tend to be overly self-critical, but someone very special once told me: if you stop doing things or delivering projects because they didn't turn out perfect in your eyes or as you wanted, you will never grow. You need to do to learn; you just need to do, and the more you do, the more perfect it will become! I learned that doing, learning, and evolving are essential, even if the result isn't perfect in my eyes. I hold that close to my heart.
