HIGHLIGHT IN MFW

For Winter 2025, Prada’s Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons delved into the visceral essence of human instinct. In a collection that merged unlikely references—cowboy elements, silk pajamas, 1970s florals, and deconstructed tailoring—the brand offered a profound dialogue on creativity and emotion.

Building on the narrative introduced in their Summer 2025 collection, which explored human imperfections amidst technological pressures, this season invites a liberation of creative instinct, where logic gives way to intuition. Each piece reflects this ethos: furry coats with a primal edge, oversized grunge-inspired knits, utilitarian lab coats, floral brooches, casual sneakers, and trousers with geometric cuts imbued with nostalgia. The worn-in aesthetic celebrates life’s passage and the memories that shape us.

The runway setting—a labyrinthine structure of metal scaffolding spread across three levels, with an art nouveau-inspired blue carpet designed by Oscar-winning Catherine Martin—amplified the emotional undercurrent. Shifting lights in white, blue, and red evoked the intimate atmosphere of nightclubs, spaces of physical connection and emotional exchange, perfectly aligned with the collection’s central theme.

While less immediate and pop-centric than its predecessor, this collection is darker, more sensual, and mature. When asked about its inspiration, Miuccia Prada responded provocatively, “What did you see?” This openness to interpretation highlights the intention to engage instinct and emotion beyond the surface.
