Melissa Ruiz is a Latin American woman, RYT 200 registered yoga/meditation teacher and online business coach for SOULpreneur. She grew up in New Jersey and currently lives in New York City. Melissa worked as a TV producer for 13 years before leaving everything back to follow her true calling as a business coach. As a businesswoman, Melissa helps other women to launch and expand their businesses, keeping their spirit in line and defining new challenges.
Melissa is certainly one of the female voices to be heard! We live in a time where egocentrism is giving way to ecocentrism. People around the world are waking up to the sustainable issues of this planet, quality of life and mental health.
1- Tell us a bit more about the decision of leaving a consolidated career, after all, it was thirteen years working as a TV producer. What led you to the decision of becoming an entrepreneur?
I was unhappy in the trajectory and enjoyment of my life, working 10-14 hour days. As a Hispanic Latinx queer woman, I felt there wasn’t enough representation in the industry and the right people weren’t being credited for the work they had been doing. One thing I learned in this job talking to people every day is that we have a deep desire to be seen and acknowledged.
So my biggest motivation was to search for happiness without the attachment of a title. I was drinking alcohol at that time, smoking cigarettes to deal with anxiety, and was attracting all the wrong partners in my life. I wanted more for myself, and the desire that was the driving force behind all of it was wanting to change my circumstances simply.
2-You are one of the voices in support of sustainable practices, and you are always looking for alternatives to implement them in corporate media. What tips would you give to those who are starting to look for these alternatives?
Create the spaces you so desire to see in your industry, even if they don't exist. Also, don't try and copy the people in your industry. What works for them usually only works for them.
Another tip is that integrating all aspects of yourself can indeed be a huge opportunity to create a brand that stands out from the rest.
My final tip would be to remember the human comes before the business. This is what I call a soul lesson in leadership. We often think of people crushing it in the industry are working around the clock, but it's all about how much rest, grace and non-attachment we practice.
3-What message would you like to leave about self-knowledge? And how important is it to let go of limiting beliefs and standards imposed by society, so that we can truly be happy being ourselves?
Yoga, meditation and the practice of non-manipulation, truthfulness, non-harming and, most importantly, the practice of contentment have radically changed my life. I often joke and say I can't remember who I was before all of this, but all I can say is I’m not the same person -- not physically, mentally or spiritually. I have access to my happiness, no matter where I go or what I do, and it will always be there. So it’s important for me continue to share that message that nothing outside of Self will bring true fillument.

A place where we can learn soulful ethical business strategy and get on the mat and practice yoga and meditation. We do not teach a "one size fits all" approach because we are considering the human before the business.
5-Projects in the coming future? Do you already have something in mind?
We have so many projects in the pipeline one of them being a soulful business planner that we are really excited to introduce into the market, some luxury retreats in 2022 and a creative agency for our VIP clients.
6-a question I often ask everyone I interview, what is your voice Melissa? What would you like to scream to the world?
That us humans have the ability to heal ourselves from anything at anytime when we choose to let go of the narratives we’ve been holding on to.
7-And last but not least, we loved the visual for this photoshoot, can you tell us a bit more about the idea behind
The idea originally came from wanted to integrate both aspects of myself. The version that lives here on planet Earth and is operating as a human and the version of myself that knows I am more than this body and exist in all things. It felt really important to lean into the space theme where LIMITLESS possibility lives. Where humans are accessing infinite possibilities.

Tivemos a oportunidade de entrevistá-la, vem conosco saber mais sobre essa girl power!
1- Conte-nos um pouco mais sobre a decisão de deixar uma carreira consolidada, afinal foram treze anos trabalhando como produtor de TV. O que o levou à decisão de se tornar um empresário?
Fiquei infeliz na trajetória e na alegria da minha vida, trabalhando de 10 a 14 horas por dia. Como uma mulher homossexual latina hispânica, senti que não havia representação suficiente na indústria e as pessoas certas não estavam sendo creditadas pelo trabalho que vinham fazendo. Uma coisa que aprendi neste trabalho conversando com as pessoas todos os dias é que temos um desejo profundo de ser vistos e reconhecidos.
Portanto, minha maior motivação era buscar a felicidade sem anexar um título. Eu estava bebendo álcool naquela época, fumando cigarros para lidar com a ansiedade e atraindo todos os parceiros errados em minha vida. Eu queria mais para mim, e o desejo que era a força motriz por trás de tudo era querer simplesmente mudar minhas circunstâncias.
2-Você é uma das vozes a favor das práticas sustentáveis, e está sempre em busca de alternativas para implementá-las na mídia corporativa. Que dicas você daria para quem está começando a buscar essas alternativas?
Crie os espaços que você deseja ver em seu setor, mesmo que eles não existam. Além disso, não tente copiar as pessoas em sua indústria. O que funciona para eles geralmente só funciona para eles.
Outra dica é que integrar todos os seus aspectos pode ser uma grande oportunidade de criar uma marca que se destaque das demais.
Minha dica final seria lembrar que o humano vem antes dos negócios. Isso é o que chamo de lição da alma em liderança. Frequentemente pensamos que as pessoas que estão arrasando na indústria estão trabalhando o tempo todo, mas o que importa é quanto descanso, graça e desapego praticamos.
3-Que mensagem você gostaria de deixar sobre o autoconhecimento? E quão importante é abandonar as crenças e padrões limitadores impostos pela sociedade, para que possamos realmente ser felizes sendo nós mesmos?
Yoga, meditação e a prática da não manipulação, veracidade, não ferir e, o mais importante, a prática do contentamento mudaram radicalmente minha vida. Costumo brincar e dizer que não consigo me lembrar quem eu era antes de tudo isso, mas tudo que posso dizer é que não sou a mesma pessoa - não fisicamente, mentalmente ou espiritualmente. Eu tenho acesso à minha felicidade, não importa aonde eu vá ou o que eu faça, e ela sempre estará lá. Por isso, é importante para mim continuar a compartilhar essa mensagem de que nada fora do Eu trará um verdadeiro crescimento.

Quando comecei meu negócio, tinha um desejo profundo de estar perto de outros empreendedores BIPOC e, para ser honesto, não conseguia encontrar a comunidade que procurava, então decidi criá-la sozinho. Um lugar onde podemos aprender uma estratégia de negócios ética comovente, entrar no tatame e praticar ioga e meditação. Não ensinamos uma abordagem do tipo "tamanho único" porque consideramos o humano antes do negócio.
5-Projetos no futuro próximo? Você já tem algo em mente?
Temos tantos projetos em andamento, sendo um deles um planejador de negócios comovente que estamos muito entusiasmados em apresentar ao mercado, alguns retiros de luxo em 2022 e uma agência criativa para nossos clientes VIP.
6-Uma pergunta que costumo fazer a todos que entrevisto, qual é a sua voz Melissa? O que você gostaria de gritar para o mundo?
Que nós, humanos, temos a capacidade de nos curar de qualquer coisa, a qualquer momento, quando optamos por abandonar as narrativas às quais nos apegamos.
7-E por último, mas não menos importante, adoramos o visual dessa sessão de fotos, você pode nos contar um pouco mais sobre a ideia por trás
A ideia veio originalmente de querer integrar os dois aspectos de mim mesmo. A versão que vive aqui no planeta Terra e está operando como humano e a versão de mim mesma que sabe que sou mais do que este corpo e existo em todas as coisas. Pareceu muito importante inclinar-se para o tema do espaço onde vivem possibilidades LIMITLESS. Onde os humanos estão acessando possibilidades infinitas.
