In this August "BUSINESS" edition of Hooks Magazine, the cover features Alana Knakiewicz, a visionary in the beauty sector who is redefining industry standards. At just 28 years old, Alana has established herself as a notable reference in the ever-expanding global beauty industry, one of the most lucrative and sought-after sectors.
Alana's journey is an example of courage and determination. When she decided to leave her hometown to start a business in a new metropolis, she faced significant challenges, from adapting to a new environment to building a name in the market. However, her bold spirit and dedication helped her overcome each obstacle, turning difficulties into growth opportunities.
The entrepreneur didn’t stop there. Alana is currently developing her own line of cosmetics, an initiative that promises to revolutionize the market. Her line was created after careful testing and an innovative approach, offering products that not only enhance beauty but also provide benefits and sophistication with each application. This launch is more than a commercial project; it is the realization of a dream that combines her passion for beauty and self-care with a desire to empower other women.
With a philosophy centered on self-esteem and self-care, Alana believes that personal well-being is essential for women's happiness and security. Her approach is directly reflected in how she develops her products and interacts with her clients, offering more than just cosmetics – an experience that elevates confidence and a sense of empowerment.
Now, check out an exclusive interview with the entrepreneur:
1. Alana, you left the countryside of Paraná (a state in Brazil) to start a business in Rio de Janeiro. What were the biggest challenges you faced during this transition, and how did you overcome them?
The biggest challenge was adapting, taking risks, being far from my family, starting from scratch, building a name, and gaining customer loyalty! Since I've only been here for six months, I'm still in this transition process. Challenges arise every day, but as Joshua J. Marinho says, "Challenges are what make life interesting, and overcoming them is what gives life meaning." I overcame these obstacles by believing that every growth experience pushes you out of your comfort zone, and that’s part of the process.
2. At just 28 years old, you are already a reference in the beauty market. What do you believe has led you to achieve this level of success at such a young age?
First, being an example and inspiration! Then, it’s about boldness, dedication, and willpower. I’ve always been very determined and focused on what I wanted and still want for myself. So, when I set my mind on something, I start mapping out strategies to achieve my goals and purposes!
3. You are developing your own line of cosmetics. What inspired you to launch this line, and how are you ensuring it stands out in such a competitive market?
Since I worked with various brands and cosmetic lines, I noticed there was a strong demand, and I realized I could develop my own line. I conducted tests, and they were a success. I’m still in the development process, taking things slowly and with caution. The formula is innovative, and besides enhancing beauty, it brings benefits and sophistication wherever it’s applied. The product I offer, used by 90% of women, provides a unique touch that goes beyond just being a simple gloss or serum, promoting self-care and a sense of empowerment.
4. You have always valued self-care and believe that high self-esteem is essential for women’s happiness and security. How does this philosophy influence the way you develop your products and interact with your clients?
Self-esteem and self-care say everything about us, and they directly affect our well-being and quality of life. If you’re not feeling good about yourself, it will have a significant impact on all areas of your life, whether it’s romantic, professional, or social. Applying lipstick, using a cream, keeping your hair hydrated, and wearing sunscreen are all ways to treat yourself with care, and these actions can change your energy, emotional state, and spirit.
5. The beauty industry offers career opportunities, autonomy, and financial independence for many women. How do you see the role of female entrepreneurs in transforming this sector and promoting women’s independence?
I have a team of women who resell these products, including women in the beauty industry (salons, studios, and spaces), as a way to earn extra income alongside their services. This “extra” income, if they dedicate themselves, can become their primary salary. For instance, they can take advantage of their leisure time to offer the product, making sales in a very organic way. Another example: after a client gets a micropigmentation, hydra gloss, or even a lip filler, they can offer the gloss as a home care treatment to enhance the results. If they prefer to focus solely on sales, it’s an opportunity to become self-employed, gain financial freedom and independence, and also help other women feel more beautiful with a touch of care.
6. As a perfectionist and detail-oriented entrepreneur, how do you handle the pressures and expectations of the market to ensure your work continues to positively impact the lives of your clients?
I’m very demanding, from the formula to the packaging, because I only sell what I would buy myself. I only sell what I would personally consume. I’m very critical and always seeking feedback to continuously improve the products, with the goal of perhaps making them internationally recognized. I hope to transform many lives by showing that every woman has the potential to achieve whatever she desires and to feel beautiful with her natural appearance.
