  • Michael Bucquet « The French Rocker » on exclusive cover and interview

“FRANCE” COVER EDITION - APRIL 24 ISSUE Photographer: @the__little__joe Make up: @ornellafrosi Style: @the__little__joe & @michaelbucquet Hairstylist: @yazidhairstylist Élite model Agent: @aurelie_bachellier In the vibrant landscape of French music, emerges a figure blending the essence of rock with poetic lyricism and rebellious charm. Meet Michael Bucquet, the multifaceted artist, poised to unveil his latest single, "Coma," marking his solo journey after his stint on The Voice France. From the pulsating energy of rock to the realms of electronic music, rap, funk, and folk, Bucquet's musical odyssey knows no bounds. "Music is a world in itself," he shares, "and I want to explore as many places as possible." Inspired by diverse genres, he creates a sonic landscape that reflects his multiple influences and his relentless pursuit of artistic expression. But Bucquet's artistry transcends mere melodies. With experience in modeling and acting, he infuses his performances with a captivating allure, seamlessly blending sound and image to create a mesmerizing spectacle. "Music isn't just music," he asserts. "It's a show - a complete offering of sound, image, and emotion." At the heart of Bucquet's latest release, "Coma," lies a poignant narrative of heartbreak and departure, delivered with electrifying fervor. "Sadness doesn't have to be expressed only in a soft song," he explains. "Pain can also be channeled through anger and the need to let off steam." Check out the exclusive interview with the singer: 1. What inspired you to explore various musical genres, including rock, electro, rap, funk, and folk? For me, music is a world in itself, and I want to explore as many places as possible. All styles of music are interesting, and there's a lot to learn outside your comfort zone. Whether you're a guitarist, a singer or a composer, to be enriched you have to be adventurous, put yourself in danger, discover and learn from others. I've done a lot of jam sessions to share with other musicians. The soaring and, hypnotic side of electro, the energy of rap, the gentleness of folk and the dynamism of funk have all helped me to flesh out my own music and broaden my palette. 2. How has your background in modeling and acting influenced your approach to music and performance? Music isn't just music. For me, it's a show. You have to offer people something complete: sound, image, life, emotion, performance and passion. A lot of messages can be conveyed through clothes, behavior and stagecraft. Especially in rock, where attitude is everything. My experiences in front of the camera have helped me to let go of my complexes and be fully in character, to give the best of myself and push back my limits as a former shy child. 3. Can you share a bit about the creative process behind your new single "Coma"? What themes or emotions does it explore? Coma is an introspective song on the theme of a painful break-up or departure. But rather than make it a slow, sad ballad, I chose to make it a punchy, dynamic song. With bass, guitar and vocals to the fore. And, of course, the strength of the lyrics. Sadness doesn't have to be expressed only in a soft song with piano or acoustic guitar. Pain can also sometimes be expressed through anger and the need to let off steam, and that's what I wanted to express on Coma, which has a sad theme, but with sounds that get the head moving. 4. How do you balance the poetic and rebellious aspects of your music, and how do they manifest in your songwriting? I've always been a bit of a paradox. In my playlist, there are lots of soft, soothing songs, and right next to them, big, aggressive songs full of furious guitars. I need to express all the facets of my personality. My sultry, rebellious side, yes, but also my romanticism and sensitivity. I don't put up any barriers when I compose. Some songs are very soft, others very hard. So, I compose sounds that are sometimes very "rockstar" and others where I express my fragility and pain … Because the most important thing for me is to reflect who I am, what's happened to me in my life, to remain authentic and share it through music. 5. With your diverse artistic interests, such as cinema and painting, how do you integrate these influences into your music? Cinema, painting and art in general have a major influence on my vision of things. Particularly in my image and music videos, where I refer to many films and sometimes even paintings to achieve certain shots and come up with certain ideas. The works of Scorsese, Nolan and Tarantino give me a lot of ideas and references. In terms of painting, it's Van Gogh, Manet or Da Vinci who inspire me, whether through their work or their lives. Van Gogh, seriously ... he was after all the poet cursed rocker of painting, don't you think, haha? 6. What can listeners expect from your upcoming music video for "Coma," and how does it tie into the overall narrative of your solo career? With Coma, people will begin to discover the person I am today, and the artist I am becoming over time. Rocker? Yes, always, but not only. A mix of influences and ideas, accumulated over the last 10 years. Between strength and fragility, joy and sorrow, hope and despair. I hope that it will speak to people and that they will be able to identify with the lyrics and feel emotions. I've left my teenage rock behind to take my music a little further, enriched by all my adventures, good and bad. Coma is the cornerstone of a more authentic, sincere, mature and assertive solo career.

‘LONDON’ COVER EDITION - APRIL 24 ISSUE Photos: @fotosyansalvatierra Make: @worneymakeup Production: @fotosyansalvatierra e @woneymakeup Design Director Hooks: @mathlopes Thaianne Malhano shines on our "LONDON" edition cover. With her unique charm and unparalleled authenticity, Thaianne has been making waves in the international fashion world. Though not born in London, Thaianne has chosen this vibrant city as her home. It is here, amidst the bustling streets and pulsating culture, that she found her passion for fashion and embarked on her inspiring journey. One of the most defining moments in her career was when she received the invitation to grace the cover of a London magazine. It was in that instant that Thaianne realized the power of her authenticity and personal style. Since then, she has been winning the hearts of people and earning the respect of fashion industry companies. In facing the challenges and pressures of the fashion world, Thaianne maintains her authenticity and passion for her work. She sets clear goals and surrounds herself with people who value diversity and originality, remaining true to herself at all times. Beyond her work in fashion, Thaianne is an advocate for healthy living and well-being. She prioritizes regular exercise, a balanced diet, and moments of relaxation to keep her mind and body healthy and balanced. Away from the cameras, Thaianne finds inspiration in her other passions, such as fitness and teaching. Check out an exclusive interview with the model: 1: What has been the most significant moment of your modeling career so far? The most significant moment for me was when I was invited by a magazine here in London to be on the cover. That's when I began to see that my unique personality and my way of working were gaining credibility from people and companies. I receive daily feedback of compliments and people wanting to hire me because I have a unique selling point. Today, the most important thing is to be yourself. People often try too hard to be something they're not. And when you're in a country that isn't your own, with a different culture, and you start making a difference in this professional field, it's incredibly gratifying. It showed that, in addition to having success in my career, I am contributing to a positive change in the fashion industry by promoting authenticity and diversity. 2: How do you deal with the challenges and pressures of the fashion industry while maintaining your authenticity and passion for your work? Challenges and pressures will always exist in our lives, so to maintain authenticity and motivation, I set clear goals. Without a clear direction, it's easy to lose authenticity and even passion for work. I start by defining what I want to achieve. My focus on what I want to accomplish is so strong that pressure and challenges make me want it even more, and when I go through something and manage to overcome it, it shows me how capable I am. Additionally, I always seek to surround myself with people who value authenticity and diversity in the fashion industry, which inspires me and keeps me connected to my passion for work. 3: What are your daily rituals or habits that help maintain your mind and body healthy and balanced? What helps me keep everything in harmony is exercising regularly, eating a balanced diet, planning a routine, nurturing relationships (always staying in touch with people you love and who make you feel good), managing stress, and taking breaks from work, which is essential for mental health. Additionally, I set aside time for meditation and reflection, which helps me maintain mental clarity and emotional balance. 4: Besides fashion, what are your other passions or interests that contribute to your creativity and inspiration? Since I was young, I've always enjoyed being in the gym taking care of my body, and it's really something you have to enjoy. I don't just mean keeping myself looking good for my own sake, but rather genuinely enjoying the interest in practicing the profession. My passion and interest lie in teaching (becoming a personal trainer), where I serve as a role model for many people, boosting my self-esteem and self-confidence to help and motivate others. Additionally, I'm passionate about travel and different cultures, which inspire me and broaden my worldview, contributing to my creativity in fashion and other areas of life. 5: How do you find meaning and purpose in your travels, beyond just exploring new cultures? Visiting a new destination allows me to explore horizons and encounter different realities, which translates into personal growth and one of the most impactful experiences of my life. Traveling for me means stepping out of my comfort zone, leaving routine behind, and living new experiences. Moreover, when you're forced to rely on yourself, without your family and friends, maturity is inevitable. I undergo a change within myself, improve my physical and mental health, recharge my energies, and encounter different stories and perspectives. All of this helps me find meaning and purpose not only in travels but in all areas of my life. 6: What is the most valuable advice you've received on your journey as a model and passionate traveler? Dive deep into your choices and never give up. And if you're afraid, go ahead even if you're scared. You only learn by doing, and fear prevents us from doing many things, which keeps us living in a bubble, getting used to what we have, and not living or pursuing our dreams. That was the most valuable advice, and thanks to it, I'm living and experiencing the best phase of my life. And of course, continuing the journey to be even prouder of the person I've become by pursuing everything on my own merit. This advice inspires me to face challenges, explore new horizons, and live with authenticity and passion in everything I do.

She embraced each new experience with unwavering determination, proving that resilience and perseverance are the keys to success in the competitive world of fashion. Collaborations with renowned brands like @ramelleofficial further elevate Ingrïd's profile, providing her with the opportunity to showcase her impeccable style and sophistication on a global scale. Check out our exclusive interview with the model: 1: How has your journey been as a model since you were 15, and how did you become a digital influencer? My mother has always been a big influence on me. She would take my sister and me to participate in everything we were called for. The first time was to participate in a new faces competition by Dilson Stein, who discovered Gisele Bündchen. I had never been on a plane before; it was the first time. So she encouraged everything related to this modeling journey. As for becoming a digital influencer, I think ever since I created my Instagram when I was in school, I gained several followers by always posting everything that was happening around me in my life, and somehow, people found it interesting. I always enjoyed posting photos; I even edited and made my videos with communication, dances on TikTok, and style. 2: What were the challenges and opportunities when moving from the agency in Rio Grande do Sul to work as a model in Italy? Sometimes I catch myself thinking that if this is happening, it's because it was meant to be. If you really want something, it's because a part of you already lives that reality. Don't give up and be patient; the only impossible dream to achieve is the one you don't try. So, you cultivate your dreams, nurture your skills, and flourish towards your maximum potential. It doesn't matter where you come from, but where you want to go. Challenges will always be there, and it's part of the game of life! But opportunities come when they're meant to be. 3: Can you tell us about your experience at Fashion Week and what it was like to participate in such an important event in the fashion world? I couldn't believe it when I was there. I arrived in Italy three months ago, and everything happened very quickly. I didn't even have clothes for this event, literally 😂. It was my first time. Fashion Week is a week-long fashion industry event. When I received the invitation from my friend, I was like, "I can't believe I'll be seeing the Philipp Plein show up close with other famous people from the fashion world." It was an incredible night. The feeling was indescribable. Then I went to Fashion Week in Paris. And because my international career is recent, looking at these events up close is a lot of gratitude. There I was in this universe that I always talked about when I was a child. Now, God willing, I'll be in the next ones to walk the runway! 4: How do you balance your career as a model with that of a digital influencer? What are the most rewarding aspects of each of these activities? Let's say that being a digital influencer is a huge fun. Because it's 100% me and it brings engagement. And that's so cool! It's a market that is only growing. And I'm the boss where I edit and post whatever I want. And the modeling career, sometimes you arrive from a shoot tired from standing for hours, retouching, doing this, doing that, but when it's over, I already want to post everything on my Instagram. I ask the photographers, and they laugh, "Where are my photos so I can post them on my Instagram right away?" 😂. In both parts, I am very happy and grateful to be doing what I love! Balance in the most natural and smooth way possible because both things are connected. 5: What is the importance of the store you mentioned, which provided your clothes for Fashion Week? How has this partnership influenced your career? @ramelleofficial is an Italian store that was a partnership that worked out great. I will never forget that it was one of the first to open doors to this fashion world. This store only has wonderful clothes. It's the kind of place where you see the clothes and want them all for yourself! It matched my style very well. On the day of the shoot at the Victorio Emanuelle Gallery in Milan, it was raining heavily. And it was crowded because everyone had come for MFW. And now the result is here! Thank you, Ramelle, for this partnership! 6: Besides your work as a model and influencer, are there any other projects or goals you would like to share with us? I would like to share with you that everything in my life I used the law of attraction and faith, and that's how I got here. If you believe, you will receive everything you asked for in prayer. Matthew 21:22. I would like to do more projects related to spirituality. I am very connected to that. Few people know about this other side of me. I think it's important for people to know about it. And with me, let's say it was destiny itself. Things were flowing, it wasn't easy, I doubted many times, people said it wouldn't work out for various reasons. And now, here we are! I'm just starting my career here in Europe, and I know it still requires a lot of dedication! But surely you will still hear a lot about me. Projects that are still to come! Just stay tuned to my Instagram because I post everything! And the focus now is to dedicate myself, have discipline and faith for the next projects shaping my career in 2024.

Photographer: Tanner Abel - @tannerabelofficial Look: Nymphia Wind In a dazzling display of charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent, Nymphia Wind, the Taiwanese-American drag performer and dressmaker, graces the cover of Hooks Magazine's highly anticipated "STARS" edition. Currently captivating audiences worldwide as a contestant on season 16 of RuPaul's Drag Race, Nymphia brings her unique blend of cultural influences, fashion expertise, and boundless creativity to the forefront of the drag scene. Off the stage, Nymphia is a master seamstress, holding a Bachelor of Arts in fashion atelier from the University for the Creative Arts in Rochester. Her journey from Taiwan to New York has been nothing short of extraordinary, fueled by a passion for expression and a desire to push the boundaries of drag artistry. Drawing inspiration from her Taiwanese heritage, Nymphia infuses her drag with elements of traditional temple fairs, Peking opera, and electronic flower car shows. Through her performances and productions, she aims to shine a spotlight on Taiwanese culture, bringing its richness and depth to the forefront of the drag community. Inspired by the fairy-type evolution of Eevee, she embodies the whimsical yet powerful essence of a fairy, fluttering effortlessly across the stage with a punch of undeniable charm. With a background in fashion and a keen eye for design, Nymphia's drag creations are a testament to her eclectic tastes and inventive spirit. Drawing from iconic designers such as Alexander McQueen and Yves Saint Laurent, she seamlessly blends high fashion with cultural references and eccentricity, creating looks that are as bold as they are beautiful. Through her participation on Drag Race and her unwavering commitment to authenticity, she hopes to empower members of the Asian community to embrace their heritage and pursue their dreams with confidence. CHECK OUT EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH NYMPHIA: 1. How do you use your Taiwanese background and your experience in New York to influence your drag art? I mainly focus on my Taiwanese background and use its cultural significance and aesthetics to inspire my drag, for example traditional temple fairs and Peking opera. I also produce shows back in Taiwan that are based on Taiwanese culture, like electronic flower car shows and banquets, and held in traditional settings, such as Taoist temples. I think it’s important to let one’s background influence their drag because that gives it depth and richness and makes the drag so much more unique. I want to bring these elements of my drag to performances in New York to make Taiwanese culture more visible. 2. You mentioned that Nymphia is an evolution of the fairy-type Eevee. How does this inspiration manifest in your drag persona and performances? Just by being a fairy type, flying all around, kinda cute but also packs a punch. 3. Does your fashion background influence your artistic approach in the world of drag? How do you incorporate this experience into your creations? Growing up, I found a world of wonder and fantasy within fashion magazines like Vogue Italia, and these fashion images just stick in my mind. At a young age, I was absorbing all the great works from Madeleine Vionnet, Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, Hussein Chalayan, Yves Saint Laurent, and many more, and it really created a vast database I can reference from. Since I’m also a very visual person, a lot of the creative process happens in my brain. I visualize how I want to look and start from there. So, drag for me is a place I can explore, create, and make beautiful things inspired by art, fashion, and nature for Nymphia to wear. 4. You talked about blending your traditional cultural background with fashion references and eccentricity. How do these elements merge in your drag aesthetic? I feel all these things are very different but also very connected and reference each other in many different ways. I think everything must have some sort of balance, and drag is the perfect medium to bring everything together. Because, for a look to work, you must embody it and you have to believe in what you are doing to bring out the harmony in something that is referencing a lot of things all at once. I guess in a way how I reference and incorporate things, how I do drag is a manifestation of my taste, and being consistent in that matures and solidifies my drag aesthetic to be what you see on Drag Race. 5. In your opinion, what role does drag play in breaking stereotypes and promoting cultural diversity? Drag is for everybody and everyone. Anyone can do drag. Drag is political, it’s a statement, it’s rebellion and freedom to its core. Simply existing and expressing is already breaking stereotypes and promoting diversity. To me, drag is not about how beautiful you can look (of course it’s a bonus if you’re beautiful), but about letting that inner diva come out, believing you are and can be beautiful, and having the courage to stand on stage and just be and express how it is to be free. Drag has taught me so much about self-confidence. It’s a journey that one experiences with themselves. Drag is for you. It’s a YOU kind of art. The most beautiful moments I’ve experienced with drag are seeing someone simply just BE on stage, turning pain into joy, sharing themselves so purely and genuinely, putting in the work, and cherishing every opportunity on stage to express themselves. In those sort of moments, you really see the soul, and how drag is a fight and how drag can heal. 6. How do you hope your participation will inspire other members of the Asian community? I hope by them seeing me on the mainstage, it inspires them to dream big and to know that there is Asian excellence out there. Because when I was growing up there was not a lot of Asian representation in Western media, a lot of times I didn’t feel confident in my Asian features. Just seeing people that look like you I know can make all the difference. Drag has taught me to appreciate and embrace my Asian-ness, and hopefully that can inspire people to do the same. The 'STARS' edition cover is a digital and international issue, intended for artists who are achieving international success. The cover will be pinned to our official Instagram profile.
