1 – Dr. Bárbara, what motivated you to choose dermatology as a career, and how did your interest in aesthetic and integrative dermatology begin?
From an early age, I realized how much the skin influences not only health but also people’s self-esteem and quality of life. Dermatology fascinated me precisely because of this duality: treating diseases while also promoting well-being and confidence.
Over time, my interest in aesthetics grew naturally, as I noticed that many patients were seeking results that combined beauty with naturalness. Integrative dermatology emerged as a complement, since I believe that treating only the skin without considering the body as a whole would be incomplete. That’s why I combined science, technology, and balance to offer more sophisticated and personalized treatments. This is what makes me love working in this field.
2 – What were the biggest challenges you faced throughout your career, and which achievements do you consider the most significant so far?
The biggest challenges were balancing constant scientific updates with clinical practice, as well as overcoming personal and professional obstacles without losing focus on excellence in medicine. Another challenge was breaking market paradigms by introducing a more refined, premium, and safe perspective on aesthetic procedures.
Among my achievements, I highlight my 10-year journey in the field, the national and international courses I have taken, the lectures I’ve delivered as a professor and speaker, and, above all, the recognition of my patients, who trust my work and the results we build together.

My greatest inspiration comes from my patients. Each story, each transformation, and each smile after a treatment motivates me to keep striving for the best. In addition, I admire professionals who combine science, art, and ethics — those who elevate medical aesthetics to a level of sophistication and respect. These inspirations shape my approach: looking at each patient individually and offering exclusive, personalized, and humanized treatments.
4 – How do you perceive the evolution of dermatology over the years, and which changes have had the greatest impact on your clinical practice and style of care?
Dermatology has evolved impressively. Today, we have technological resources and combined protocols that allow for more natural, less invasive, and much safer results. The modern patient seeks not just “procedures,” but an experience that blends exclusivity and science applied to beauty.
This evolution has directly impacted my practice: I began creating signature, luxurious, and personalized protocols, inspired by high-end brands yet always grounded in solid scientific evidence.
5 – What advice would you give to young doctors or students who wish to pursue a career in dermatology?
My advice is: never stop studying and keeping yourself updated. Medicine requires dedication, discipline, and a passion for science. More than mastering techniques, it is essential to develop the sensitivity to see each patient as unique. Ethics, responsibility, and love for the profession are the foundation of a solid career.
And remember: the true difference lies not only in what we do, but in how we do it — with care, excellence, and purpose.
