GLAUBER BASSI EXHIBITS HIS BLACK SOUL PROJECT AT THE RENOWNED HOTEL FASANO IN SALVADOR

Based in Milan, fashion photographer Glauber Bassi gives visibility to the black people of Salvador with the BLACK SOUL exhibition

Curated by Denise Camargo.

At the invitation of international model Carlos Cruz, he turns his gaze to Brazil with the BLACK SOUL exhibition

“It is not just about fashion photography, but about a

homage to the black soul of Salvador” says Glauber Bassi.

Carlos Cruz is an international model, known in the capital of Bahia as the “king of the favela”. He idealized the project with the aim of giving prominence and opportunities to his peers. The images still dialogue with the issue of structural racism and diversity, contributing to the important contemporary debate.

BLACK SOUL was produced in iconic spots in the city of Salvador, such as Pelourinho, Santo Antônio and Gamboa. The essay values underrepresented models in Brazilian fashion culture. The work includes Afro elements for the scene, such as straw, drums, basins or ethnic graphics. The photos were taken at the end of 2021, with models

from social projects.

BASSI ABOUT THE EXHIBITION AT HOTEL FASANO:

06/02/2023 was the day of the opening vernissage of my exhibition at the Hotel Fasano in Salvador.

I have no words to describe my happiness and satisfaction at having this beautiful work being exhibited in Bahia, a place where I have great affection and where the project was idealized.

With a 30-year career and a lot of experience, I've experienced incredible things through my work, but nothing explains the feeling of recording the emotions of more than 60 black models from the outskirts of Salvador who seek appreciation in the field of art and fashion every day. Observing those eyes filled with dreams and willpower affirms that with my art I can touch the world.

And it is very gratifying to see that Black Soul has opened doors for models who participated in the project to be outside Brazil following an international career, this makes me even more grateful and makes me certain that I am on the right path.

GRATITUDE!

AND WAIT, BECAUSE BLACK SOUL IS COMING TO EUROPE.
