Simon Porte Jacquemus returns to the Palace of Versailles for his Fall 2025 collection, bringing a narrative that looks to the past while redefining the brand’s future. Two years after transforming the palace gardens into a runway for his vision of modern nobility, the French designer now shifts perspective—paying homage to the aesthetics, garments, and quiet dignity of the peasant class.

Headscarves, raw cotton fabrics, manual lacework, and handcrafted crochet details dominated the runway, evoking the honest beauty of rural life. Inspired by traditional workwear, pieces were elevated through refined tailoring: wrap shirts, collarless blazers, and sculpted jackets formed the backbone of the collection. While French countryside traditions set the tone, hints of southern Spain added a layered depth—flamenco ruffles, tassel-lined hems, and theatrical silhouettes infused the collection with drama.

Two of Jacquemus’ signature codes remained front and center: geometry and sensuality. Shoulders came squared or softly rounded, sleeveless dresses fell like classical columns adorned with stripes and diamond prints, and sheer, draped gowns revealed the body with elegance. The opening looks—shirt dresses with voluminous front skirts and cinched backs—offered a striking synthesis of structure and movement.

Since debuting his Summer 2025 collection earlier this year, Jacquemus has made clear his couture aspirations. The shift is evident: a move toward elevated craftsmanship and red carpet-ready glamour signals a strategic effort to place the brand alongside fashion’s most established luxury houses. Though the balance isn’t always perfect, the ambition is.
