How did your interest in this fashion niche arise? How long have you been dedicated to this profession? "I have always had a great passion for fashion. I have always been very observant, detail-oriented, and these characteristics have been crucial in my journey. I have always enjoyed being in front of and behind the camera. When I was younger, I did some modeling jobs and even started a course in this field, but I gave up. At the time, I thought that only those who were really tall and very thin could be successful. During adolescence, I had many doubts and fears. Today, I want to explore more of the fashion world, and I know that I have the competence to do so." 5 - Could you tell us about some plans, projects, and ambitions you aspire to? "Of course. I have future plans to open my own aesthetics clinic and develop my own professional skincare and haircare products. What tips would you give to those seeking a more carefree lifestyle? "No, I haven't always had this mindset. I always dreamed of living part of what I'm living today, but I never imagined that I would actually achieve it. I didn't have an easy childhood, but I had a lot of love, and from a young age, I always pursued my dreams. I worked for five years in a company, starting at a young age of 16, and I recognize that it taught me a lot, especially about wanting to grow. Moving to a different state took courage. I completely stepped out of my comfort zone because I wasn't as close to the people I love. I left Rio Grande do Sul and moved to Santa Catarina, then later to São Paulo, and now I live in Portugal. Today, I can confidently tell people that they shouldn't let fear dominate their desires. We shouldn't be afraid to leave any uncomfortable situation. The world is vast, and there are many opportunities for those who are brave and determined. To achieve goals, we should always have targets and plans and never give up. Ever since I decided to move from Brasília to São Paulo in search of new opportunities, many good things have come my way. But there is still much to be achieved. With patience and competence, I know that great opportunities will come. I am preparing for them. 3. What are the main challenges and rewards of working in the fields of acting and presenting? The main challenge is to stay in the industry. Sometimes, due to a lack of opportunities and financial stability, we may consider giving up quickly. However, the reward is seeing a finished work being delivered to the audience after going through various stages, from the birth of a script to video post-production. It's wonderful to evoke sensations in people through your art, study, and preparation. It fuels me even more. 4. How do you use the internet and social media to promote your work as an actress and presenter? The internet is the biggest showcase an actor can have. I have always used social media to promote myself, update my work, and showcase some of my skills. Thanks to these platforms, I have been noticed by major brands I never thought of collaborating with. 5. Who are your main inspirations and references in the world of acting? In acting, I really admire Maria Bopp. She fully commits to every role, without any vanity. I discovered her through a character on Instagram who makes various social critiques with a touch of humor. I think she is one of the greatest we have. As a presenter, I have always loved Sabrina Sato. She has been in the media for many years and still maintains the same essence. Her style is unique and captivates the audience. I adore that! 6. Do you believe that online presence and the use of social media are essential for the success of an actor and presenter today? Why? I don't believe that being active on social media is essential to be a successful actor, but I do think it is the easiest and most accessible way to get noticed and showcase your skills. For me, Instagram stories and feed are my resume. 7. Leave a message that you think is important for Hooks readers. It can be an inspirational phrase or even an encouraging thought. After finding that over half of hairdressers in Brazil express concern about their mental health, L'Oréal Professionnel launches an initiative with training and awareness on the subject. Today, the brand goes further by launching the global campaign "Head Up," which aims to bring more visibility to mental health, especially for beauty professionals such as hairdressers. The initiative includes training through a series of videos divided into four modules, focusing on raising awareness about the subject. The "Head Up" campaign, with content co-created with hairdressers from around the world, focusing on mental health, was globally developed by the brand in partnership with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), following studies conducted by the brand that revealed mental health as the 13th challenge for salon professionals. In Brazil, according to a study conducted by L'Oréal Professionnel with 257 respondents, the data is even more concerning, as mental health is the second biggest concern for 59% of the respondents. Being a hairdresser also means being a listener. On average, professionals spend 2,000 hours¹ per year listening to their clients and providing a service that goes beyond just hair. In fact, these professionals offer social and emotional support, with 75% of clients considering a visit to the hairdresser as a form of self-care. These listening professionals also need to be heard. "We know that mental health has been a significant issue for everyone during the pandemic, but when we look at the beauty market and all the challenges that were experienced, it is clear that those who worked in it needed to reinvent themselves and develop great resilience. We have always been partners in all aspects, from professional training to supporting the business, and today we want to continue taking care of the business, and more than ever, after everything, we have a 360-degree perspective on those who touch and care for our consumers on a daily basis. We need to look at and take care of those who care," says Mariana Salgado, Director of L'Oréal Professionnel in Brazil. With the aim of raising awareness about mental health, the content has been made available on the brand's YouTube channel and on Access, L'Oréal Professional Products' educational platform. The content is divided into four certified modules, each eight minutes long, presented by Hayley Jepson, co-developer of Head Up, and Daniel Mason Jones, educator at L'Oréal Professionnel and co-developer of Head Up, covering the following topics: Introduction (Head Up Keys Résumé), Mental Health Matters, ME: Self-Care, and YOU: Setting Boundaries. In addition to online content, each country will have a local NGO as a partner for organizing meetings and creating a specific agenda for each country. In Brazil, the responsible NGO will be Movimento Saber Lidar, which aims to promote the mental health of professionals who directly interact with the public.
