Shady and Olive Oil, are the creative duo behind the Brazilian YouTube phenomenon, the DragBox channel. Since March 2019, they have been captivating viewers with their irresistible blend of drag queen art, pop culture, and entertainment. In an exclusive interview, Thairone and Eduardo reveal how it all started as a fun joke and transformed into a overwhelming passion. With hilarious videos and commentary on RuPaul's Drag Race, they have gained a devoted fan base craving for more. Now, they are ready to surprise us even further with future projects and remind us of the importance of following our dreams and loving ourselves. Get ready to embark on a journey filled with glitter and empowerment alongside these stars of drag queen art and pop culture. Welcome to the magical world of the DragBox couple. Confira entrevista exclusiva: 1. How did the idea of creating the DragBox channel come about, and why did you decide to focus on topics related to drag queen art and pop culture? It all started as a big joke. Tatá used to do drag and invited me (Olive) to give it a try and see what I thought, and I absolutely loved the experience! We gradually developed a fondness for the drag world, makeup, and related things, and that's when we decided to create the channel, to give some "purpose" to our drag personas. Since we were getting into drag every week, why not film videos for YouTube while in drag, right? Haha. In the beginning, the channel started with videos commenting on the reality show RuPaul's Drag Race, which has always been a huge inspiration for us. We also shared a bit about our own experiences, always in a humorous way. But I can say that there was never a big plan regarding the type of content we would cover on the channel. Everything happened very naturally, following our hearts. This is how our most successful segment, "EAD com Dragbox," was born. It came about after a random conversation during a Drag Race review, discussing the metamorphosis of a butterfly, which ended up going viral on the internet. 2. How did you two meet? The first time we saw each other was at a karaoke night in João Pessoa, the city where we lived. We exchanged glances, but neither of us had the courage to make a move. Luckily, the next day we found each other on a dating app and matched. We were very fortunate because Tatá had already left João Pessoa and returned to her hometown in the countryside. However, her profile miraculously appeared to me, and we were lucky enough to have that match. Image disclosure @canaldragbox 3. How do you choose the themes and content to be covered in your videos? There are two ways we choose the themes for our videos. One of them is through the channel's recurring segments, which we do at least once a month. Examples include "EAD com Dragbox" (Learning with Dragbox), "Desmontando" (Unveiling), "Fofocas dos Inscritos" (Subscriber Gossip), "Quadro Culinário" (Cooking Segment), and so on. As for the non-recurring videos, we usually choose topics based on events or viral videos that happened during the week. If there's a funny video going viral, we always think of a script to create a video around it. 4. What has been the most memorable moment since the creation of the channel? There have been many memorable moments, but without a doubt, it was our participation in CCXP 2022 (Comic Con Experience). We were aware that our audience had grown, that there were people who liked us, but it was at that event that we realized the magnitude our work had reached. We had been recognized by fans on the street before, and it was always a great experience, but at CCXP, it was something surreal. We had never had so much interaction with people who follow our content and appreciate us for who we are, and that is incredible. Image disclosure @canaldragbox 5. What are the biggest challenges you face in managing a YouTube channel? There are some challenges, just like in any other job. It's not always smooth sailing. But undoubtedly, dealing with numbers is something that messes with our heads. Nowadays, we make a living from this, paying our bills with our work on the internet. So, the fear of not producing relevant content is always present because we're afraid of losing everything we've built. We're a bit more at ease with this now, and we've even brought up this topic in our therapy sessions, but it's still something we worry about. 6. What are the future plans for the channel? Any special projects in mind? We have an incredible project coming up called "EAD com Dragbox Ao Vivo" (Learning with Dragbox Live), where we'll have the experience of answering questions from our followers in real-time. We're still finalizing the details, but very soon we'll have more information about the location and format of the event. Image disclosure @canaldragbox 7. What are the main messages you want to convey to Dragbox viewers? Joy and love. We live in a world that can be quite chaotic, where people are increasingly anxious and depressed. So, knowing that our content also serves to bring comfort to people's hearts and make their day happier is priceless. We also like to make it very clear that we are a couple and always bring videos with that theme to soothe people's hearts and show that love does exist, and we can find someone who understands and accepts us just the way we are. 8. How do you believe Dragbox contributes to breaking stereotypes and prejudices regarding the LGBTQIAPN+ community? Currently, we have a very inclusive language within the channel, reaching audiences of all ages, from the youngest to the mothers and grandmothers of families. By entering the homes of Brazilian families in such an organic way, it is very important to break barriers. Sometimes, by watching us and enjoying our content, more conservative people start to understand how things work better and become more open to understanding other people within our diverse community. They start to respect and appreciate them more. Image disclosure @canaldragbox 9. Leave a special message for our readers, any message you believe is necessary. It's never too late to start over. We started the channel after already choosing our courses and careers, but none of that was an obstacle for us to dive into this new adventure that has now become our biggest dream.

House Mazzutti @ housemazzutti Team Hooks Fashion Director: Matheus Hooks - @ directorhooks Marketing and Design Director: Matheus Lopes - @ mathlopes Ita Mazzutti, renowned fashion photographer, has achieved a solid career over more than 15 years in the world of photography. With experiences on four continents - Americas, Europe, Asia, and Africa - Ita has captured the essence of Brazilian fashion in his digital gallery, capturing portraits of artists, models, and influencers. His journey is characterized by a loyal, courageous, and pioneering spirit that has gained him an increasingly larger audience and impact in the world, building a significant following in the digital era. Shy, reserved, and critical, getting to know Ita up close is to enter a creative and authentic mind. His photographic style is marked by shadows, warm light, and a classic gaze, expressing the challenges of artistic and social self-acceptance present in his works. His photographs transcend time and the contemporary, naturally conveying the identity of Brazilian fashion and the genuine features of men and women who were born to shine. With his work featured on numerous covers and editorials of Brazil's top magazines, Ita Mazzutti has emerged from a landscape where the physical meets the digital. In addition to his photography work, the artist also conducts in-person workshops for VIP groups of students, sharing his forward-thinking perspective on trends and his courage to break through any fear. In this exclusive interview, Ita Mazzutti reveals the challenges faced when directing fashion and advertising photo and video shoots, the importance of artistic and social self-acceptance in his work, his approach to creating authentic and timeless photo shoots, and how he manages to convey the identity of Brazilian fashion through his photographs. Check out the interview: 1. What are the main challenges you face when directing fashion and advertising photo and video shoots? "When it comes to advertising, I believe the challenge is to take all the client's references and briefing and put your own identity into the process and the result. It's not always easy to change something or try to alter the initial idea because it's about a brand. But with the collaboration of the entire team and those involved, the exchange of ideas and knowledge can lead to an incredible outcome." 2. How do you approach the creation of photo shoots that convey an authentic and timeless message, regardless of the profile of the model or celebrity involved? "I love the concept of capturing and creating in the way I believe to be beautiful. For me, this process involves art, beauty, and emotion, going beyond assembling all the references, moods, etc. I believe in photography as pure art, and I rely on feeling something in the moment and trying to create with everything I have in my mind, which I call 'a backdrop of memories'." 3. What is the importance of artistic and social self-acceptance in your photographic work? How do you deal with the challenges associated with this issue? "I believe that photographers, as well as other artists and professionals, always go through phases. One of them is self-acceptance, understanding your identity, knowing where you excel, but also acknowledging that there are moments of questioning. However, I see this positively because it makes us stop and think, and often that's where we step out of our comfort zone or resolve conflicts of artistic identity." 4. What are the main differences between photographing celebrities and photographing people outside the artistic sphere? Do you adopt different approaches for each of these contexts? "This is something I like to talk about. People tend to only see my work with models and celebrities and perhaps think that I don't work with anyone outside of that sphere. But I'm always trying to show that it's not the case. I love my work and have a passion for doing it with anyone, and sometimes working with people who are not part of the industry challenges me more and is where I recognize my ability to create something beautiful with all individuals. We can all feel that way, in fact, we should feel beautiful and photogenic, and my job is to convey that through photography, through my art." 5. How do you manage to convey the identity of Brazilian fashion through your photographs? What are the key elements you seek to capture to represent this identity faithfully? "I am extremely passionate about our country, given the vastness of different cultures, natural beauty, and people. And when it comes to Brazilian fashion, I see it this way: diversity, incredible talent, and amazing professionals. When I have pieces or collections in my hands that I can combine with my photography, whether for a campaign or personal work, it brings value and a result that fulfills me. Transmitting the identity of Brazilian fashion is about passion, love, joy, and beauty." 6. How have your experiences in different continents influenced your artistic vision and photographic style? "Thanks to my work, I have been to marvelous places that I might not have had the opportunity to visit otherwise. Encountering different cultures allows us to expand our ideas and knowledge socially and visually, and for photography, this is extremely important as we have this plurality in our hands. From a commercial and market perspective, it also helps us understand the various forms of delivery and results with brands and audiences in general." Ita Mazzutti continues to make his mark in the world of fashion through his creative and authentic vision. With each new challenge, he surpasses himself, utilizing his passion for art and multicultural experience to create works that transcend geographic boundaries and inspire people around the globe. His contribution to Brazilian fashion is undeniable, showcasing to the world the diversity and talent that permeate the country's fashion scene.

  • SAINT LAURENT MADONNA X MEISEL – THE SEX PHOTOGRAPHS

Tour locations and dates: Christie’s London Christie’s Paris Christie’s New York May 23– June 2 - June 27 – July 6 - September 30 – October 6 Steven Meisel (b. 1954), Madonna, New York, 1992, archival pigment print Estimate $150,000–250,000 Christie’s is pleased to announce its participation in the ongoing anniversary celebration initiated by Madonna and Saint Laurent’s re-issue of ‘SEX’ the boundary pushing 1992 photography book by Madonna and Steven Meisel. As part of the project Christie’s will present Madonna x Meisel – The SEX Photographs an auction of over 40 works, as editions of one, in a live sale taking place in New York on October 6, 2023. Upon its release in 1992, Madonna’s book became a controversial, cultural sensation around the globe, due to its erotic content and liberated views of sexual self-expression. Envisioned by one of the most influential musicians of all time, ‘SEX’ contained iconic imagery by Steven Meisel as well as written text by Madonna where she introduced her persona, Dita. The book remains the best and fastest selling coffee table book of all time. In 2022, Madonna and Saint Laurent’s Creative Director Anthony Vaccarello marked the 30th anniversary with a first time ever re-edition of the notorious book with 800 limited edition copies and a first-time gallery exhibition at Miami’s Art Basel. Darius Himes, Christie’s Deputy Chairman, International Head of Photographs comments: “The much-deserved hype and white-hot energy given off by Madonna in the early 1990s was conveyed and immortalized through Steven Meisel’s photographs. He knew how to capture the allure and sexuality of pop’s reigning queen in a way that was unrivalled. In the intervening 30 years since her infamous SEX book was released – shot exclusively in collaboration with Meisel – what has become clear is how truly iconic those photographs remain. They sit at a moment in art history of the late 20th century that both summarizes a moment, playful and prescient, and hints at the future of public stardom driven by image- conscious figures. These images are nothing short of brilliant.” Ahead of the auction a curated selection of photographs will be traveling to London (May 23 - June 2) and Paris (June 27 – July 6). A portion of the proceeds for the sale will benefit Raising Malawi, in support Malawi’s orphans and vulnerable children with critical resources. Photos: André Keke - @andrekekestudio Team Hooks Design and Marketing Director : Matheus Lopes @mathlopes Fashion director and writer : Matheus Hooks @directorhooks Since childhood, Raphael Oliver has felt a fascination for feminine beauty and the world of makeup. Influenced by his uncles, he began exploring photography as a hobby but soon realized that something was missing to make his images shine even brighter: makeup. Determined to improve his skills, he started studying on his own, analyzing magazine covers and makeup catalogs, and ventured into doing the first makeovers on close friends. Throughout his professional journey, Raphael Oliver worked in advertising and photography, but makeup has always been present in his life. It was in a beauty salon that he had his starting point as a professional makeup artist, and with dedication and passion, he became a master of the art of makeup, exploring techniques of light and shadow, colors, textures, and effects, being internationally recognized as one of the greatest experts in the field. With the launch of the R.O Master Class in 2017, Raphael Oliver was able to bring his knowledge and makeup techniques to people from different parts of the world, further expanding his recognition as an educator and beauty market specialist. In 2021, he took an important step in his career by launching the online training program "Master of Makeup," a comprehensive program that prepares professionals in makeup techniques, career development, photography, and marketing, further solidifying the Raphael Oliver Academy and spreading his knowledge worldwide. In an interview, Raphael Oliver shares his story of how he discovered his passion for makeup and photography, his learning process, and how makeup has become such an integral part of his professional life. 1. How did you become interested in makeup and photography? I remember being around 15 years old and admiring the covers of cosmetics catalogs. Those photos of beautiful, well-made-up faces always radiating happiness and satisfaction intrigued me. Having two photographer uncles in my maternal family, I started taking photos of my friends as a kind of play, and that's where my journey in what would later become my profession began. 2. When did you realize that makeup was the missing element in your photographs? I realized that, like a painting, photography captures a moment in someone's life, and for a good photo, at least a bit of makeup was necessary. Powder to reduce shine, mascara, blush, lipstick, and eyeliner were the first products I acquired to start doing makeup on my friends and clients. It became clear to me the power of makeup in transforming and enhancing their beauty. Gradually, my interest in makeup grew even more than my interest in photography. 3. How did you start studying makeup and doing your first makeups? I started by trying to replicate the makeup styles I saw on magazine covers, using the few products I had. Even this small step was important in gaining experience with makeup. When I moved to the capital of Tocantins, Palmas, in 2010, to study Marketing, I started working at a photography studio, where I did makeup for clients. Some of them were pregnant women who just wanted to capture the moment, sometimes with little or no preparation. I did their makeup to help, knowing that it would make a difference in the photo shoot. Over time, encouraged by friends, I did a test at a beauty salon to work as a freelance makeup artist on weekends, and that's when I truly started my career as a makeup artist. Some time later, I took my first beginner makeup course at a makeup school in São Paulo, where I learned about products and their correct application, as well as color theory and other topics. From there, I began my journey as a self-taught artist in search of my personal style. After a few years, I honed the style I do today, which is a more dramatic social makeup, something I enjoy and chose to pursue. 4. What was the biggest challenge you faced throughout your journey as a makeup artist and educator? Well, in the early days of my career, I had a lot of doubts. At that time, there was very little discussion about the makeup artist career as a whole (and, in fact, there is still very little today). I heard and saw a lot of focus solely on makeup techniques, but not much about how to become a successful entrepreneurial professional, gain recognition, and have sustainable income. My challenge, like that of many makeup artists, was knowing how to work in a way that attracts clients. Basically, I asked myself, "Okay, I have the makeup technique, but now what?" "How do I attract clients and make money in this profession?" The answer came after many years of study and experience. Today, something I advocate for is that makeup artists study and take an interest in everything that encompasses the career, not just the technique. 5. How did you become a master in professional makeup? Share the pivotal moment in your career. In the beginning, it happened somewhat by chance. I would always post the results of the makeups I did on my clients on social media, and that started to catch the attention of people in my city, state, and later on, from other parts of Brazil. As a result, I began receiving messages from people interested in learning from me. My first contact with education was through a course I taught in Belo Horizonte - MG, at the invitation of a local makeup school. From there, a spark ignited in my heart, showing me that I had a purpose in the educational field. Years later, when I was hired to teach my first masterclass in Dubai, I knew for sure that I had chosen the right path and that all the work I had done had been worthwhile. 6. How did the idea of creating the Raphael Oliver Academy come about? And what courses are offered by the Academy? For about 8 years, I worked serving clients in other people's beauty salons and also in my own salon. During that time, I balanced my passion for education on alternate days. However, I realized that I wanted to focus primarily on the educational field. In 2018, I sold my beauty salon in Palmas - TO and decided to move to São Paulo - SP to be more accessible to my students, who came from different states in Brazil and some countries in Latin America. With the pandemic, my partner and I decided to create the Raphael Oliver Online Academy to offer online courses to people worldwide who couldn't come to me but needed professional makeup content like what I provide. We created the "Master of Makeup" training program, which is a comprehensive method that teaches everything from products, customer service, color theory, advanced makeup techniques, marketing, career, and photography. It's a complete method to transform makeup artists into successful entrepreneurs. Currently, we have students from over 16 countries in the academy, and our courses are offered in English, Portuguese, and Spanish. In addition to the "Master of Makeup," we offer career mentoring and a specialization in water-resistant, sweat-proof, and friction-resistant makeup. We are now working on expanding the courses offered, creating new opportunities for makeup artists worldwide to study with us. 7. What sets the academy apart from other makeup schools? I believe our biggest differentiator is the fact that I am an educator with 13 years of experience in makeup, photography, and marketing. Our course offers a comprehensive view of the profession, going beyond the technical knowledge of makeup and guiding students in structuring their careers. Another important point is that through my travels around the world, I have gained a lot of knowledge and broadened my perception of makeup from different countries and cultures, bringing the best to my work. We can say that we offer an international makeup approach aligned with the best industry practices. Additionally, our courses are highly versatile, covering bridal makeup, colorful looks, cut creases, eyeliner techniques, makeup for dark skin, and much more. Students can find absolutely everything in a single platform. 8. Besides discipline, what do you believe is the secret to your success as a makeup artist and educator? The makeup world is highly dynamic; everything changes rapidly. New trends emerge all the time, and I am restless. I am always experimenting with new techniques, new products, challenging myself, and surprising my audience. Therefore, I believe the secret to my success lies in being an up-to-date professional, studying, and constantly seeking improvement. That is the foundation of my success. 9. Leave a message for our readers. Well, I will share a piece of advice I would give to myself if I could go back in time when I was starting out: Study! Seek knowledge wherever you can find it. Do not settle for the status quo! You can write a different story for yourself, even if nobody is watching, even if nobody believes. If it makes sense to you, pursue it, do not be afraid, take risks, pay the price. Be strong, and you will see that it is possible to achieve your dreams.

  • International Day to Combat LGBTphobia: The fight for equality and respect

On May 17th, we celebrate the International Day Against LGBTphobia, a highly significant date for the LGBT+ community and its allies worldwide. This day has been established as a symbol of resistance and awareness, aiming to combat discrimination and promote equal rights for all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. The origin of the International Day Against LGBTphobia dates back to a historic event. On May 17th, 1990, the World Health Organization (WHO) removed homosexuality from the International Classification of Diseases. This decision was a crucial step towards destigmatizing the LGBT+ community and challenging the discriminatory views prevalent in society. Since then, activists and advocates for LGBT+ rights have used this date to denounce the violence, prejudice, and discrimination faced by the community in different parts of the world. The International Day Against LGBTphobia seeks to strengthen solidarity among social movements and raise awareness in society about the importance of combating all forms of LGBTphobia, be it physical, verbal, or institutional. On this day, various activities and mobilizations are carried out to promote awareness and fight for LGBT+ rights. Marches, demonstrations, debates, lectures, exhibitions, and awareness campaigns are organized in different countries, involving both members of the LGBT+ community and their allies and supporters. The central objective is to create an inclusive and safe environment for all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. It is essential to promote acceptance, respect, and equal rights so that everyone can fully live their lives without fear of discrimination or violence. The International Day Against LGBTphobia is an opportunity for us to reflect on the progress made and the challenges that still persist in the fight for LGBT+ rights. It serves as a reminder that everyone has the right to love, be respected, and live according to their identity, free from prejudice and discrimination. Only through joint and continuous actions can we build a more inclusive, fair, and equal society for all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

"MODEL" EDITION COVER - GLOBAL DISCLOSURE Model: Ariella - @ariellamoura Photos: Thom. - @thomfoxx Beauty: William Lopes - @willozill Creative Direction: Jean Gutti - @jeangutti Agency: Ford Models - @fordmodelsbrasil Team Hooks Fashion Director: Matheus Hooks @directorhooks Creative Director and design: Matheus Lopes @mathlopes Writer: Núbia Dias @diasnubia Ariella Moura is a renowned model from the Ford agency. She is originally from Belo Horizonte, MG and is affectionately called Ari. Even when she was young, she says she already understood herself as a woman and knew that her essence was never masculine. The 24-year-old from Minas Gerais has already collected several achievements. In 2019, she was crowned Miss Trans Brasil and took second place in Miss International Queen. In addition to her stunning beauty, she is very friendly, dedicated and authentic. The young woman now has a new goal: to compete in Miss Universe Minas Gerais and win that title as well. She acknowledges that, having participated in many beauty pageants, she has gained a high profile. The competition will bring together the beauty of many women, but she makes it clear that she promises to do her best, just as she has been doing up until now. The beauty also aspires to represent Brazil in the world's largest trans beauty pageant. She recognizes and values this opportunity and intends to bring knowledge to many people, undoing some of the prejudices imposed by society. Being in Miss Universe is of great value to Ari. She hopes to represent other trans women in the best possible way. The model spoke with Hooks and we had the opportunity to learn a little more about this powerful woman. Come with us and be enchanted! 1 - Ariella, as a model, do you think your gender identity influences your career? Could you tell us about some challenges and opportunities you have experienced? "Not currently. Fortunately, the fashion industry is evolving more quickly than other niches, but it hasn't always been this way. There are still many clients who don't want to associate me with their brand, but I think they are the ones who lose out. I try to focus on those who believe in me and want to see me shine. I want partnerships that make me feel good and that want the best for me." 2 - You have participated in many beauty pageants, right? In 2019, you were crowned Miss Trans Brazil. How was that experience? "It was incredible! Many people devalue beauty pageants and only see the glamour of the stage, but being a beauty queen goes beyond physical appearance. The pageants taught me a lot about leadership, persistence, and discipline. It was a valuable experience." 3 - You are a very admired woman. Could you leave a message for people who are still discovering themselves and facing difficulties related to gender identity and/or sexual orientation? "It's a challenge! Unfortunately, society still condemns us, devalues us, and makes us invisible, but we have to stay strong and focused because the only opinion that should matter is our own." 4 - You inspire many followers. How do you feel knowing your relevance? "I love knowing that several girls look up to me! I confess it is a great responsibility, but I love knowing that I am part of my followers' lives, even without knowing them personally. It is gratifying to know that I have a positive impact on their lives." 5 - Ariella, on your Instagram, you share your moments, your travels, and have visited many countries. Have the trips you have taken contributed in any way to your life? How so? "Definitely! I believe that knowledge has no boundaries, and by meeting new people and experiencing new cultures, we tend to evolve, and in doing so, we break down many limiting beliefs that we unfortunately learn from childhood. Traveling allows us to live new experiences, learn more about ourselves and the world." 6 - Last but not least, if you could display a message on a billboard, what would it be? "Persist in your dreams! Nothing is impossible for those who are persistent. It takes a lot of willpower to pursue our dreams and goals. If something goes wrong, learn from your mistakes, go out there and do it again, but don't give up."
