110 Years of Timeless Elegance: Chanel Redefines Haute Couture in Paris

Kylie Jenner for Chanel Haute Couture Fashion Show

This Tuesday (28th), the Grand Palais became the epicenter of a milestone celebration: 110 years of Chanel Haute Couture. On the second day of Paris Haute Couture, the maison revisited its origins, reimagined its classics, and reminded the world why its codes remain unmistakable across generations.

The story began in 1915 when Gabrielle Chanel boldly opened her first haute couture maison in Biarritz, challenging the conventions of her time. From her revolutionary use of jersey to her effortless approach to style, Coco Chanel reshaped fashion history. Fast forward to 2025, and the house continues to honor this legacy while adapting to the pulse of the present.

For the Spring-Summer 2025 collection, Chanel delivered a runway that celebrated the maison’s timeless essence through a modern lens. With Virginie Viard no longer at the creative helm and Matthieu Blazy’s debut anticipated in October, the creative team took center stage, presenting a tribute to Chanel’s enduring spirit.

Classic tweeds were reimagined with transparent sleeves and lighter silhouettes, while neck bows, thin black belts, and delicate floral prints paid homage to Coco’s signature touches. The color palette offered a poetic journey from dawn to dusk, featuring soft pastels, vivid yellows, lilacs, and deep blues—a nod to both Gabrielle’s mastery of color and the passage of time.

The collection showcased meticulous craftsmanship: silk crepe pajama sets in sunrise gradients, yellow tweed suits inspired by morning light, lilac dresses with box pleats, and striking orange-pink coats layered over purple jacquard gowns. Even the footwear reflected this spectrum of hues, with strappy shoes in sky blue, violet, and cream completing each look with finesse.

With an audience that included Kylie Jenner, Pamela Anderson, and Fernanda Torres—each adorned in Chanel—the show was a celebration of elegance that transcends trends. As the lights dimmed and the applause filled the Grand Palais, one thing became clear: 110 years later, Chanel remains a beacon of innovation, rewriting the story of fashion with the grace and vision that Gabrielle herself once dreamed of.
