‘CARNAVAL - BRASIL’ EDITION COVER - JANUARY 2026 ISSUE

In the special Carnaval · Brazil edition, Hooks Magazine presents on its cover an artist who precisely translates the spirit of today’s avenue: Camila Assunção. A professional dancer, muse, fitness woman, and symbol of stage presence, Camila has built a solid trajectory that moves naturally between major stages of Brazilian music and the collective pulse of São Paulo’s Carnival.
With remarkable experiences in Raça Negra’s ballet, in singer Leonardo’s dance company, and currently as part of Belo’s ballet, Camila carries in her body the memory of experiences that shaped her technique, artistic awareness, and identity as a woman and professional. In 2026, she steps into a new and important chapter: taking on the role of Muse of the Barroca Zona Sul samba school, consolidating her image as a complete artist deeply connected to her cultural roots.

“Everything I lived through with Raça Negra and Leonardo built the foundation, but today I’m experiencing a very special phase in Belo’s ballet. It’s a moment of maturity, where I feel more aware of my art, my body, and my delivery on stage,” Camila says. According to her, the present represents solidity and purpose: “Today I recognize myself as a more confident artist, more prepared and more connected to who I am, not only as a dancer, but as a woman and a professional.”
The invitation to take on the role of Muse of Barroca Zona Sul goes far beyond the shine of the title. For Camila, the avenue is a territory of truth, expression, and artistic responsibility. “Being Muse of Barroca Zona Sul in 2026 is a milestone in my journey. It represents recognition, trust, and, above all, belonging,” she says. “This invitation is not just a title, it’s a symbolic responsibility. It’s about honoring the school, respecting its history, and delivering truth, presence, and love in every step on the avenue.”

Also known for her fitness lifestyle, Camila combines discipline, health, and well-being as fundamental pillars of her performance. In a Carnival that demands physical endurance, emotional balance, and absolute focus, she sees body care as an essential part of her art. “My fitness routine and my discipline with health and well-being are not just about aesthetics, they are the foundation that sustains my performance,” she explains. “When the body is strong, the mind is steady, and the emotions are aligned, art flows with truth.”
This awareness is reflected in the way Camila builds her public image: strong, feminine, sensual, and above all, authentic. For her, there is no contradiction between technique and sensuality when identity is present. “I don’t build a character, I amplify my essence. Technique gives me grounding, discipline gives me structure, and sensuality comes from confidence,” she says. “Stage presence is not excess, it’s awareness.”
In an edition that celebrates Carnival as cultural power and the ultimate expression of Brazilian art, Camila Assunção represents the synthesis of body, soul, and purpose. “Carnival is the place where art stops being individual and becomes collective. It’s not just a party, it’s manifestation, ancestry, a body that speaks and a soul that expresses itself,” she reflects. For her, parading is only part of something greater: “Today, Carnival symbolizes a place of truth, artistic mission, and meaning.”

With a trajectory built on consistency, discipline, and dedication, Camila Assunção appears on the cover of Hooks Magazine not only as a muse or dancer, but as a symbol of a new generation of artists who understand Carnival as language, identity, and collective strength. A woman who dances, represents, and transforms presence into truth.
Check out our exclusive interview with Camila:
1. Your journey includes iconic names in Brazilian music. How did your experiences with Raça Negra, Leonardo, and Belo shape your identity as a dancer and artist today?
Working with major names in Brazilian music was fundamental to building my artistic identity, but today I’m living a very special phase in Belo’s ballet. It’s a moment of maturity, where I feel more aware of my art, my body, and my delivery on stage.
Everything I experienced with Raça Negra and Leonardo built the foundation, but today I recognize myself as a more confident artist, more prepared and more connected to who I am, not only as a dancer, but as a woman and a professional. Belo’s ballet represents this phase of solidity, identity, and purpose.

2. In 2026, you take on the role of Muse of Barroca Zona Sul, a moment of great visibility in São Paulo’s Carnival. What does this invitation represent in your career and in your relationship with the avenue?
Being Muse of Barroca Zona Sul in 2026 is a milestone in my journey. It represents recognition, trust, and above all, belonging. The avenue has always been a place of truth for me, where the body speaks, the soul expresses itself, and the energy is collective.
This invitation isn’t just a title, it’s an artistic and symbolic responsibility. I see it as the union of everything I’ve built throughout my career with a space that has always been part of my identity: Carnival. It’s about honoring the school, respecting its history, and delivering truth, presence, and love in every step on the avenue.
3. Carnival pushes body, mind, and emotion to their limits. How do your fitness routine and your discipline with health and well-being influence your performance on and off the avenue?
Carnival demands total balance. Body, mind, and emotion need to be aligned. My fitness routine and my discipline with health and well-being are not just about aesthetics, they are the foundation that sustains my performance. They give me physical endurance, mental clarity, and emotional stability to handle the intensity of the avenue and the stages.
Taking care of my body is a form of respect for my career and my art. Off the avenue, this shows up as energy, focus, and presence. On it, it turns into dedication, strength, and consistency. I believe true performance is born from balance. When the body is strong, the mind is steady, and emotions are aligned, art flows with truth.

4. Dancer, muse, fitness woman, and a reference in stage presence. How do you balance technique, sensuality, and authenticity to build a strong image without losing your essence?
I believe that a strong image comes from truth. Technique gives me grounding, discipline gives me structure, sensuality comes from confidence, and authenticity is born from who I am off stage. I don’t build a character, I amplify my essence.
Balancing all of this means understanding that stage presence is not excess, it’s awareness. It’s knowing who you are, what you communicate, and why you communicate it. When there is identity, there is no conflict between technique, sensuality, and authenticity, everything connects. And it’s in this connection that a strong, true, and sustainable image is born.
5. Hooks’ special Carnival edition celebrates complete artists. What does Carnival symbolize for you today, artistically, personally, and as a cultural expression?
Carnival, to me, is synthesis. Artistically, it’s the place where everything comes together: body, emotion, technique, spirituality, presence, and truth. It’s where art stops being individual and becomes collective. Where the stage becomes the avenue and performance turns into shared energy.
Personally, it represents belonging, strength, and identity. It’s where I recognize myself, strengthen myself, and rebuild myself. Where I connect with my roots, my history, and who I truly am, beyond titles and spotlights.
As a cultural expression, Carnival is resistance, memory, and the language of the people. It is living art that crosses generations, territories, and realities. It’s not just a party, it’s manifestation, it’s voice, it’s ancestry, it’s a body that speaks and a soul that expresses itself.
Today, Carnival symbolizes for me a place of truth, purpose, and artistic mission. It’s not just about parading, it’s about representing, honoring stories, and transforming presence into meaning.
