Temperatures have dropped across much of Brazil, and with the cold comes a natural dip in motivation to exercise. To overcome this seasonal challenge, willpower needs to be stronger than the weather.
With that in mind, DLK Modas, a leading name in fitness apparel, shares a few key tips to help you stay consistent with your workouts, along with important precautions to take during winter training.
Keep drinking plenty of water

In cold weather, it’s normal not to feel as thirsty, but staying hydrated on chilly days is just as important as in the heat. Urine can serve as an indicator: darker urine often signals insufficient hydration.
Wear appropriate clothing for the season

During this cold period, people feel less motivated to go out and exercise, especially on rainy days. To overcome this obstacle, experts recommend investing in appropriate clothing.
Warm up your body before starting your workout

In cold weather, it’s important to set aside at least 10 minutes to properly warm up your muscles and prevent injuries.Warming up also helps stimulate blood circulation, giving you more energy for your workout. Dynamic warm-up exercises — like jumping jacks, light walking, or stationary jogging — are highly recommended.
Pay attention to your breathing
During exercise, prioritize nasal breathing over mouth breathing. Breathing through the nose helps filter air through nasal hairs — which is especially important in winter, when cold, dense air settles closer to the ground and carries more pollutants.Inhaling through the nose also warms the air before it reaches the lungs, offering added protection when temperatures drop. That said, flexibility is key — don’t force nasal breathing if it becomes uncomfortable.

Train in indoor environments
Prioritize enclosed spaces like gyms, which offer protection from the cold and rain. While exercising outdoors may seem more enjoyable, in this kind of weather, it might not be the best option.
