- Jackeline Alecrim is among the 30 scientists featured as highlights in an international publication
German publication highlights the scientist. Photo promotion press The German pharmaceutical company Bayer, one of the largest pharmaceutical laboratories in the world, has named Brazilian scientist Jackeline Alecrim as one of the thirty female scientists to be featured in a book honoring the achievements of women in science. Recently published, the book titled "Science with a Woman's Face" showcases female scientists in alphabetical order, presenting their biographies and life stories. Jackeline, originally from a small town in the interior of Minas Gerais, Brazil, was the first person in her family across generations to pursue higher education. Graduating in Pharmacy in 2010, she worked as a university professor for nine years, during which she decided to pursue her research using her own resources and the support of the educational institution she was working for. Her innovative approach gained her recognition in the field of scientific entrepreneurship both nationally and internationally. The scientist is a pioneer in developing a study that resulted in a biotechnology utilizing phytoactives from a biotechnological coffee extract, clinically proven to be effective against alopecia and hair loss. In 2017, the formula developed by the scientist was approved by the Brazilian National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA), allowing her to begin commercializing the product derived from the patented biotechnology. The study spanned four years and involved significant challenges, including the demanding routine of balancing work and the laboratory, often spending more than 18 hours at the research bench, all while navigating the responsibilities of motherhood. The scientist reveals that these challenges served as additional motivation to see her project through to completion: "Seven hours before giving birth, I was in the laboratory, and 14 days after delivery, I started juggling between research and breastfeeding in the university corridors. I always like to share this part of the story because it symbolizes the additional challenges that women face in pursuing their work, in any field, including science. Despite the many difficulties, motherhood provided me with extra fuel to never give up," she says. Jackeline also emphasizes the importance of initiatives like Bayer's: "The initiative by Bayer to highlight the journeys of women in science contributes to demystifying our role as researchers and serves as encouragement and inspiration. Women have tremendous sensitivity and great powers of perception, along with being naturally creative and persistent. They have made significant scientific achievements throughout history. The book portrays the contributions of women in science, and it is an immeasurable honor to be among the 30 honored scientists of today in this work." The formulation developed by Jackeline Alecrim, named DR JACK - Caffeines Therapy, began with a modest production of eight customized bottles after the completion of the research. It has since reached the milestone of over 200,000 products sold, with distributors in more than 21 countries.

Invited to grace our cover with the theme "TRIPS," Ana Andrade presents us with an exclusive interview where she reveals the secrets of her travels and takes us on a journey to the most exotic destinations she has ever visited. Among the many stops on her traveler's itinerary, one country stands out as the most exotic destination Ana has had the pleasure of experiencing: Sri Lanka. She tells us about her immersion in the local culture, exploring Buddhist temples, bathing elephants, and visiting plantations where the world's finest teas are exported. With a breathtaking view of the sunrise from great heights, Ana embarked on a nocturnal hike to Adam's Peak, resulting in an unforgettable memory. Throughout the interview, Ana shares her perspective on the importance of diving into the cultural aspects of the countries she visits. Museums and historical centers are mandatory stops on her journey, allowing her to perceive the connections between different nations and be captivated by the wealth of stories and curiosities that each place has to offer. Ana believes that every trip brings about personal transformation, an opportunity for growth and expanding horizons. Check out the exclusive interview now: 1. What is the most exotic travel destination you have ever visited and why? Sri Lanka It was a country that I was able to fully explore in one month. An admirable culture and an affordable place to travel. I did the night hike to Adam's Peak to witness the most beautiful sunrise above the clouds from a high point. At the peak of the mountain, there was a temple. I visited Buddhist temples, bathed elephants, and explored plantations where the world's finest teas, imported globally, are grown. The luxurious hotels were reasonably priced. Overall, it was the best experience. It's definitely worth traveling for hours to visit this country. 2. What cultural aspects of a country do you find most interesting to explore during your travels? I enjoy visiting museums and historical centers. It shows me that the world is interconnected. From the 52 countries I've visited, I notice some similarities, and I am fascinated by the countless stories and curiosities each country has to offer. "There is no journey that doesn't change you in some way!" 3. What are your top three favorite countries and why? - England - London I lived there for a few years and improved my language skills while living there. I have fond memories of this country, despite the not-so-great weather. - Mexico It has a culture very similar to ours. It boasts paradisiacal places, and the people are incredibly kind. - France - Bordeaux It's my favorite place to enjoy wines and eat foie gras. There are several castles to visit, and the food is exceptional. 4. What are your tips for making the most of a trip and immersing oneself in the local culture? My first tip is to plan your trip considering the weather. It's crucial so that you can enjoy it without carrying an umbrella...hahaha. Second tip: download travel apps as there are several that offer the best prices. Third tip: organize in advance the places you want to visit. After the pandemic, some places have visitor limitations and restrictions. 5. Is there a place that you dream of visiting but haven't had the chance yet? If so, where is it and what attracts you to that destination? The Northern Lights. We are like hunters of the Aurora because it all depends on the weather conditions. I tried to see them in Iceland in 2019 but was unsuccessful. In 2023, I went to Norway and Sweden, but still didn't see them. Each time, I went in January. This year, I want to try a different month. I am currently planning whether to go to Canada or Finland to expand my collection of countries. 6. What are your most memorable memories from a place you recently visited? I was on a spiritual retreat in the Sacred Valley in Peru, and it was the best experience of my life. I have a strong affinity for praying, and the archangel I feel most connected to is Archangel Michael, who is associated with the blue flame. Many of my photos showed symbols in the color blue. I feel like God's favorite daughter. I have experienced many miracles in my life, and today I am grateful for all of them! 7. How do you think that traveling and exploring different places can enrich our understanding of the world and different cultures? It depends on how each person views life and interprets the signs. For me, traveling has opened my mind to connect more with God/the universe. There is a world out there to be explored, and it belongs to all of us. There are places that even mankind cannot explain how they were created, and it is these mystical places that captivate my attention. "Living is amazing."

Another distinctive feature is our daily live shops, which foster greater interaction with the audience and instill confidence during the purchasing process. 5. How do you find unique and high-quality pieces to offer your customers? When we bring our suppliers on board as business partners, it opens up a range of channels for obtaining exclusive products. With her magnetic presence and unique style, Evelyn captures the essence of the fashion and lifestyle world in her inspiring photos. Evelyn defines the concept of lifestyle as a constant pursuit of authenticity, balance, and personal expression. Her career as a photographic model is a reflection of this, as she is challenged to embody different lifestyles in each shoot, adapting to the requirements and guidelines of each concept. Behind Evelyn's stunning appearance lies a careful dedication to her lifestyle. She values the importance of a balanced diet, physical exercise, and taking care of her skin, hair, and overall well-being. This holistic approach contributes to her confidence, energy, and ability to express herself through photographs. On the cover of Hooks Magazine, Evelyn conveys a variety of essential elements to represent the lifestyle she promotes. Authenticity, emotion, inspiration, style, and aesthetics blend together in a stunning portrait that captivates readers and invites them to explore a world of possibilities. Check out the exclusive interview now: 1. How do you define the concept of lifestyle and how does it relate to your career as a photographic model? As a model, I am constantly challenged to represent and embody different lifestyles, depending on the concept or campaign. I need to adapt to the requirements and guidelines of each photo shoot. I take great care of my lifestyle to maintain my appearance and health. This involves having a balanced diet, engaging in physical exercise, taking care of my skin, hair, and overall well-being. This contributes to my confidence, energy, and ability to express myself through photographs. 2. What are the key elements you seek to convey through your photos to represent the lifestyle you promote? I strive to convey a variety of elements to represent the lifestyle I am promoting: authenticity, emotion, inspiration, style, and aesthetics. During the shoots, I work together with photographers, stylists, and production teams to ensure that the photos are aligned with what we are promoting. 3. What are the main differences between posing for a lifestyle photo shoot and posing for a traditional fashion photo shoot? In a traditional fashion photo shoot, the main objective is to showcase the clothing and accessories in focus, without necessarily conveying a specific story or context. On the other hand, lifestyle photo shoots may involve capturing photographs in natural settings, interior spaces, cities, or any environment that reflects the promoted lifestyle. 4. How do you prepare to incorporate different lifestyles into your photos? Do you conduct research or seek inspiration from any specific sources? I always strive for authenticity to showcase my essence and personality to the fullest. For lifestyle shoots, I prefer more natural-looking photos, while for professional portfolios, I shape my performance according to the concept of the shoot. 5. What are the biggest challenges you face when portraying a specific lifestyle in a photo shoot? And how do you overcome them? Exotic styles can initially cause fear, so I make sure to rest my mind before professionally photographing a different performance. I visualize and seek innovation in poses. In the end, fear becomes a wonderful dopamine-filled sensation of accomplishment. 6. How does the lifestyle you promote as a photographic model influence your personal choices outside of work? As a model, I need to preserve my appearance as much as possible. I don't make radical haircuts or change my eyebrows according to the current "fashion." The fashion industry is highly volatile, so maintaining a neutral appearance is essential. I end up giving up on several things I like in order to maintain neutrality. 7. What advice would you give to aspiring models who want to stand out in the field of lifestyle photography? Be confident, authentic, and stay informed about the trends. Learn to work as a team and have courage.

Recognized as a model and successful investor, she is an example of versatility and determination. In this special edition of Hooks Magazine, we are delighted to present her as the face of our cover, featuring an exclusive interview. With a background in business administration, Melissa recognized the importance of diversifying her interests and expanding her horizons. In addition to her mastery of the fashion world, she also stands out as a skilled investor, venturing into stocks, real estate funds, and cryptocurrencies. Her strategic approach and knowledge of the financial market have placed her in a prominent position in this industry. Currently residing in Paris, Melissa shares with us, in the interview, her inspirations behind the fashion creation of the cover, discusses diversity, and delivers an important message about sustainability in the fashion world. Check out the exclusive interview below: 1. You wore a look entirely made through denim upcycling on the cover of Hooks Magazine. How do you perceive sustainable fashion and its role in building a more conscious future? I believe that fashion plays a role of representativeness in people's lives. When you wear something, you express what is inside you—your personality, your style, your preferences, your creativity, and, consequently, your way of thinking. In my opinion, upcycling fashion encompasses various themes. We are talking about awareness, representativeness, and inclusion. Speaking of awareness, we should know that, according to a study by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the textile industry's production is responsible for 2% to 8% of global carbon dioxide emissions. Moreover, the dyeing phase is one of the major causes of water pollution. When we talk about denim fabric and its production phases, we are talking about a significant level of pollution. I believe that this alone is a good reason to start considering applying a new concept to materials and fabrics that would otherwise be discarded. Regarding representativeness and inclusion, it is about including people from all social classes in fashion. We can find various used pieces through donations or in thrift store finds, giving these pieces a new chance. We can customize them or cut and remake a piece from scratch, as was the case with the cover look. Together with the authenticity of the stylist Diogo Venâncio, who was responsible for creating the look and who already incorporates streetwear, quiet luxury, and upcycling in his work, we thought about how to take jeans from charity thrift stores and create a complete look, from pants and top to customized shoes. It combines awareness with the All Jeans trend. 2. How did upcycling become an important part of your style and creations? Do you use it in your daily life? I have always enjoyed experimenting with styles and looks during my adolescence, which I believe is the phase where we test new styles and create our personalities. Dressing up was a way to express something that was hidden within me. I have fond memories of roaming all over São Paulo during my 15 and 16 years, searching thrift stores and customizing looks to attend parties and cultural events of that time. I wanted to be part of the fashion world, to have exclusive and unique pieces that would showcase my personality. That was my way of putting together looks. At that time, I didn't really think about sustainability; it was more of a financial matter (haha). However, it allowed me to create new concepts with pieces that others no longer valued. It fostered my creativity and made me realize the importance of giving new chances to those neglected garments. 3. How does fashion affect your professional and personal life, and is it a focus for you as an entrepreneur? Fashion makes me be and feel. Through it, I can express myself and feel free to create. In my personal life, it reveals a part of what is intrinsically kept within me. And in my professional life, it shows me the possibilities to create different contexts and themes, to play with styles, and to address important issues that are expressed through garment construction. My focus is to show that fashion can reach various groups. The important thing is to be authentic and carry meanings of belonging and representation. 4. The new Barbie movie has brought to light the importance of diversity and representation in fashion. How do you believe this approach impacts the industry and influences aesthetic standards? The conscious All Jeans theme, along with a provocative cover inspired by the Barbie movie, makes us reflect on diversity, not only in clothing but also in bodies and individuals. For a long time, fashion was seen only for the elite class and for thin, white, standardized bodies. Today, we are bringing in colors, ethnicities, genders, and styles, demonstrating that diversity exists and should be respected and fostered with a sense of belonging, especially within the fashion industry. 5. What are the main changes you have noticed in the fashion industry regarding the acceptance and celebration of body and style diversity? There has been a need to increase awareness of diversities, as what was imposed upon us did not truly represent the majority. This creates an opportunity for new brands to emerge and for major brands to adapt to what becomes a trend in its own right. Fashion is revolutionary and slowly but surely, it is transforming, and we are gaining visibility in spaces that were previously unseen. An example of this, which sparked various comments, was the appointment of Pharrell as the creative director of Louis Vuitton. Being a renowned brand, there were many criticisms of his appointment due to his lack of formal training in the field. However, he responded simply and sincerely: "I make things for humans." During his first fashion show in Paris under his creative direction, Pharrell showed us that fashion is about representing people, about the feeling of being and being part of something. Fashion is a movement, and its lovers are artists. With each achievement, we must celebrate because gradually we are occupying spaces and showing our existence and style. 6. What message do you have for aspiring designers and fashion enthusiasts who want to get involved in sustainable fashion and promote diversity in their creations? The message I have for fashion enthusiasts is to be authentic and revolutionary. What will make you distinctive and unique is your authenticity and passion for what you are creating. In a conversation with Diogo, the creator of the look, he told me something that made me reflect deeply on what fashion truly is: "Every well-constructed piece has the passion and drive of its creators. All these emotions result in the magnitude of expressing what is inside and bringing a new perspective to fashion. It is not limited to straight cuts and perfect seams. It is about making things happen with what you have at hand because a simple hand needle, thread, and scissors can transform something ordinary into an incredible, unprecedented piece that nobody could have imagined. It is about being unique and trusting your heart." For those who want to get involved in sustainable fashion, it is simple and even enjoyable to explore thrift stores in your city. Seek style references, make use of fabrics from past collections, and recreate new garments and cuts. Let yourself be guided by creativity. In doing so, you will transform the ordinary into the extraordinary.

Her keen eye for fashion and talent for creating versatile and elegant looks have made her a prominent fashion influencer. We interviewed Pietra to learn more about her journey in fashion and her invaluable tips for creating stunning looks while traveling. Check out the full interview below: 1. What was the most inspiring trip you recently took, and how did it influence your style? Visiting Mexico definitely brought me several new perspectives on fashion and how I dress. Although it wasn't the most recent trip, it's the one that marked me the most because it was my first international travel. The contact with the culture as a whole, the gastronomic experiences, the environments, the language, and especially the colors, patterns, and different types of fabric made me look at loose and patterned clothing with different eyes! 2. How do you balance comfort and style when choosing looks for long trips? I don't believe in the concept of comfort automatically associated with loose clothes, hoodies, etc. In fact, my motto is: I need to feel comfortable to feel confident and stylish. And that comfort can come in the form of pieces with chains, embellishments, or even with exposed skin, for example! But I balance it by choosing versatile pieces. It may seem cliché, but planning in advance with pieces that can be mixed and matched for multiple looks works wonders! Additionally, of course, I have my favorites that reflect my personal style. 3. What are your tips for creating versatile looks that can be easily adapted during a trip? First of all, know yourself! When traveling, we can't take everything we want, so I always think about pieces that I know make me feel good and won't just take up space in my suitcase! Second, familiarize yourself with the destination to some extent. Of course, spontaneous plans always come up, but having some knowledge about the schedule and available sightseeing options reduces the chances of making fashion mistakes. Lastly, I would say that a good pair of sneakers and a third piece can transform any outfit. For example, you can take a glamorous and sensual dress and give it an urban twist with a jacket and chunky sneakers! 4. What are your favorite clothing brands for putting together an elegant and functional travel wardrobe? I don't hide the fact that I come from humble origins, but I believe that some people are born with certain things already in them. Looking back, I realize that I always had a certain sense of taste and fashion, within my means! And I have a strong opinion on this: someone who knows how to dress can walk out of a thrift store looking like they're in a fashion editorial! Now, with these international trips, I've had more exposure to other brands, and if I could pick a top 3, in addition to Zara, which I already knew and serves me well, I would include Yves Saint Laurent and Fashion Nova... 5. What are your must-have clothing items for a perfect beach look? The obvious answer would be some amazing bikinis, right? But I never go without long skirts and dresses, and especially wide-leg pants. I think they give a totally different image than the usual beachwear because of the flowy fabrics that create beautiful movements in the beach breeze! 6. How do you make the most of your fashion purchases during trips, ensuring they can be worn again for different occasions? I ask myself, "Where else could I wear this piece?" To be honest, my wardrobe isn't filled with clothes. I like to make intentional purchases! But I won't deny that every now and then, I buy pieces for specific occasions—who hasn't done that, right? My iconic fringe pants are an example. What I do afterward is evaluate if the piece aligns with my personality for other occasions and how much use I can get out of it.
