COVER FASHION EDITION Credits Style @stylebyste Photos @joaocassioph Claudia Costa is a strong and determined woman. She is a digital influencer, communicator, marketing student and photographic model. The beauty from Paraná loves to travel and has already visited several countries. Anyone who accompanies her knows how busy her life is. Between one airport and another, the model shares her itineraries with her followers. She loves interacting with people. Even young, she already has a trajectory of many accomplishments. In her career, she is fully committed to getting the best results. Since her childhood and adolescence, everyone around her always noticed that she had the feeling to be a model, and then her career became a reality as a photographic model. Claudia is able to recognize that it is the reactions to circumstances that shape our future, and she knew how to make moments become important for her growth. In her trajectory she had to deal with mishaps, but she had the wisdom to overcome all unwanted situations. As for fashion, she makes it clear that each person should feel like a unique being, since every beauty is unique. For her, people should not try to fit into the standards, they should not physically mold themselves to fit within any standard. The world of fashion is constantly evolving. In this interview, Cláudia exudes her beauty and charisma. She knows more about her personality and life trajectory. 1- Claudia, when did you identify with the photographic model career? Tell us a little about your experience. “My identification came at age 16 when I was in a square in my city and a photographer stopped me and asked if I was a model, that is, I was noticed. This encounter was a true watershed for me. He talked to my family, since I was underage, and then he gave me the opportunity to be a model in his own store, and since then several invitations have come up that have made me love fashion even more. This unexpected encounter really changed my life.” 2-How would you define yourself in a few words? “I consider myself a person with a good heart, I like to help people. I'm also persistent, I don't give up even with difficulties, I'm always looking for my best version. I have a horror of lies, I appreciate people's sincerity and I am also very sincere”. 3-You are always very well dressed, your looks are admired by many women. Have you always liked the world of fashion? “I have always loved fashion. Since I was young, I liked to be daring with my clothes, to have my own taste. I was that child who goes to his mother's wardrobe and tries on clothes, even though they don't fit. I always liked to be well dressed, to be noticed. But my true love for the world of fashion came when I realized that I could have ambitions that I had never weighed before. Fashion provided me with many learnings and achievements. Fashion is a way to feel free, to expose your exterior!”. 4- You are a very empowered woman. Is it important for you to have a visual identity? “Yes, since it says a lot about you. To have a visual identity, it is not necessary to follow fashion, but to have personality when dressing and also behaving. Having your own style is feeling free!”. 5- Have you ever had a moment in your life when you thought about giving up? “Yes, several times. I remember that when I worked as a telemarketer and had to adjust my office hours with that of a model, it was always tiring, but I was always positive even though I wanted to give up. Today I realize how important all situations experienced are, as each phase requires something new from us. The path of life is made up of ups and downs, and we have to know how to deal with them and not lose sight of them. Life is made of moments, and I believe that there is no perfect life, only perfect moments”. 6- Through your Instagram, it can be seen that you are a woman who plans a lot of trips, right? Name some places that enchanted you. Do your trips contribute in any way to your professional life? "I love to travel!!! I have already visited many countries, but Switzerland and Italy have been my favorite places so far. Through travel I can feel my essence more, they are moments that I like to enjoy my own company, go to the places I want, do what I like...among many other things. Travel is enriching for me, as I get to have several experiences”. 7- Is your routine very busy, do you have any hobbies to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life? Which? “I really enjoy walking outside and being with people I love. Simple pleases me. I value taking care of the health of body and mind. Even traveling back and forth, I have a commitment to always go to the gym to practice physical exercises, I feel good”. 8- Even being a photographic model, I believe that you already had demands regarding your body. How do you see the future of models' careers in terms of body profile requirements? “I believe that in the future there will no longer be a standard for being a model, times have changed and everything changes every moment. Even though this is still a taboo, I believe that the stereotype of thin and tall bodies will not be as in demand as they once were. People learned to value themselves more, to realize that being different is normal, and that's beautiful! Each person is unique. Therefore, a beauty standard should not be established. Beauty has always been valued, but I realize that over the years, the choice of a pattern is demystifying. More and more women and men are accepting themselves, making the fashion niche even more personality”. 9- Claudia, you are an inspiration to many women. How do you feel about it? “I love being an inspiration, I love when I post something and people ask me about what was posted, I feel that somehow I'm adding to something, that is, I feel useful and I love that feeling. It is very gratifying to receive so much affection from the people who accompany me". 10- Last question, but not least: if you could expose a message on a billboard, what would it be? "Life is in your hands, you choose whether to turn it into something good or something bad."
- GLAUBER BASSI EXHIBITS HIS BLACK SOUL PROJECT AT THE RENOWNED HOTEL FASANO IN SALVADOR
Based in Milan, fashion photographer Glauber Bassi gives visibility to the black people of Salvador with the BLACK SOUL exhibition Curated by Denise Camargo. At the invitation of international model Carlos Cruz, he turns his gaze to Brazil with the BLACK SOUL exhibition “It is not just about fashion photography, but about a homage to the black soul of Salvador” says Glauber Bassi. Carlos Cruz is an international model, known in the capital of Bahia as the “king of the favela”. He idealized the project with the aim of giving prominence and opportunities to his peers. The images still dialogue with the issue of structural racism and diversity, contributing to the important contemporary debate. BLACK SOUL was produced in iconic spots in the city of Salvador, such as Pelourinho, Santo Antônio and Gamboa. The essay values underrepresented models in Brazilian fashion culture. The work includes Afro elements for the scene, such as straw, drums, basins or ethnic graphics. The photos were taken at the end of 2021, with models from social projects. ABOUT GLAUBER BASSI: Fashion photographer, from São Paulo, born in Caçapava, SP, he grew up in a photographic environment. Son of a wedding photographer, he discovered the production of images and its analogue techniques in his childhood and, fascinated by this universe, started his professionalization early at the age of 14, working alongside his father. Years later, with his eyes completely turned towards Photography, he studied Publicity and Propaganda at UNITAU, University of Taubaté, SP, a path that took him abroad in search of improvement where he completed his training in Fashion Photography at the prestigious European Institute di Design in Milan, where he has been based for 25 years. After some internships with renowned local photographers, he set up his own studio, starting a solid international career, signing campaigns for hype companies such as Geox, a leading brand in the international lifestyle footwear market, and the Viennese contemporary design studio Sheyn, among others. Working in the Milan, Paris, London and New York circuit, he works for the biggest editorial publications in the fashion world, such as the German Volant Magazine, Vanity Teen NYC and the references Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. BASSI ABOUT THE EXHIBITION AT HOTEL FASANO: 06/02/2023 was the day of the opening vernissage of my exhibition at the Hotel Fasano in Salvador. I have no words to describe my happiness and satisfaction at having this beautiful work being exhibited in Bahia, a place where I have great affection and where the project was idealized. With a 30-year career and a lot of experience, I've experienced incredible things through my work, but nothing explains the feeling of recording the emotions of more than 60 black models from the outskirts of Salvador who seek appreciation in the field of art and fashion every day. Observing those eyes filled with dreams and willpower affirms that with my art I can touch the world. And it is very gratifying to see that Black Soul has opened doors for models who participated in the project to be outside Brazil following an international career, this makes me even more grateful and makes me certain that I am on the right path. GRATITUDE! AND WAIT, BECAUSE BLACK SOUL IS COMING TO EUROPE.

COVER NEW YORK EDITION Stylist @carllosmartinz Stylist @ilumi.nath Photography @eumarcosdourado Make @jucamposbeauty The young model has already lived in more than 25 countries, such as: Milan, London, Paris, Madrid, Athens, Mexico etc. She has already been highlighted by internationally renowned brands, such as: Dolce Gabbana, Armani, Hugo Boss, Guess, Maxim, Vogue, Magnifik, Intimissi, among many others. It is clear that Karolina is a determined, empowered woman who exudes beauty and sympathy. Even with different challenges, she never considered the idea of giving up on her dreams, she always knew that for this career she would have to be willing and flexible, and she does not regret her choices. She points out that this career required a deep dive into this environment, which is competitive and is often seen only as a very glamorous job. Karolina makes it clear that for this profession, a healthy, balanced and ideal diet for her physical size will make all the difference. And it's not just the physical preparation that should be given attention, it's essential to prepare psychologically to withstand the pace of the career. And we at Hooks had the opportunity to interview this model who owns a truly inspiring and contagious trajectory. Come with us! 1-Karolina, have you always wanted a modeling career? When and how did you know you had “feeling” on the catwalks? “Since my childhood, becoming a model has always been my big dream. I was always parading around my house, and I was always imagining myself on the catwalks. The games with the friends involved parades, costume changes, applause, among other actions that are part of this universe. When I was only 7 years old, my mother took me to some contests, but there weren't many since they were expensive and she couldn't pay the fees. At the age of 15 I tried to join an agency, but they told me that I wasn't pretty enough to be a model and I also heard other comments that weakened my dream of this career. A year later I met Alexandre, the owner of the ACM agency in Goiânia, he was on a fashion show in a mall also in Goiânia. He already told me that when he saw me passing by with my mother, I called his attention and he had the initiative to approach me and then he called me to meet his agency, I went, but very hopeless, but the long-awaited moment happened. Alexandre gave me opportunities and in the same week I did a show and in the second week another one, and in this show an agency in Milan noticed me and got in touch with Alexandre saying that he wanted me to go to Milan as soon as possible, and a month later I was already working in the fashion capital, thus fulfilling my childhood dream. I always knew that was my purpose, and today I am very happy with so many achievements.” 2-How would you define yourself in a few words? “I am a very determined person, focused on my goals, but without losing my essence, which is always to be kind, kind and calm. If I were to define myself in just one word I would say persistence, I always run after my goals, I don't give up easily on what I want, some may even judge it as stubbornness, but the correct definition would be persistence.” 3-We heard many people comment that the models are very disciplined. Tell us a little about your routine, your preparation for work. “Working as a model is not monotonous days, that is, the routine is very inconsistent. Having a routine is not something so simple in this career, as there is always some casting, work or trips that you only know about the night before. But I try to have a healthy life, the practice of physical exercises and a healthy diet are essential. At first it was very difficult, but nowadays I got used to it and learned to adapt. 4-We know that to pursue a career as a model, both aesthetics and body profile are fundamental requirements. What is your opinion about the body profile requirements in this field? “When we hear that someone wants to pursue a modeling career, we immediately imagine a tall, thin and beautiful woman. Many agencies look for models with a minimum height of 1.75 cm with a maximum hip height of 90 cm for fashion models, among other characteristics. However, a few years ago, this branch had some adaptations. Nowadays shorter women with not so thin bodies are already accepted as models. It is already clear that this career can cover different types of beauty, therefore, there is a range of options and categories of models and jobs. In my opinion I always preferred the style of Victoria's Secret models, which was the style of beauty in the world for many years. I think that a model should be tall, thin and beautiful, as this differentiates her from other people in other markets. The modeling profession was once more respected, nowadays saying that you are a model unfortunately can sound like a 'laughing' reason and many people even take it to the thought of prostitution, and that is totally wrong, it is absurd.” 5-How do you see yourself as a model in the future? Is there a project you could tell us about? “I intend to work for a few more years as a model, and when I realize that work no longer motivates me, I would like to study medicine, as that was also my wish before working as a model. In medicine, I already know what area I would specialize in, it would be neuropediatrics, I would really like to work with autistic children.” 6- Regarding your recognition, did you imagine that one day you would be such an influential model? "In truth no. As I mentioned, when I was 15 years old, having a disappointment involving my dream/career, hearing a lot of nasty comments, it really affected my self-esteem, and I thought I could never be a successful model, but I was wrong. I am very grateful for everything that happened to me because it made me stronger. So, today I can see that the difficulties shaped my character and were essential for me to become a more mature person.” 7-In your opinion, what are the advantages and disadvantages of fame? “The perks of being famous are the opportunities that become more visible, both professionally and in your personal life. However, there are also disadvantages, it becomes more difficult to trust people, one must be careful to distinguish who is really close by interest and who is close by affection, admiration.” 8- What message would you give to those who want to follow the same profession? “Be very focused and objective”, that was the phrase I heard from someone when I was going to Milan for the first time, and I never forgot it, because I learned that everything done with determination will enable several achievements, regardless of the profession.” 9—Karolina, was there a moment when you thought about giving up your career? "Often. Being a model is not an easy profession as many imagine, because we are away from our family, we spend a lot of time alone, not to mention the pressure we feel in various aspects. But I always had the support of my family, who didn't let distance be synonymous with absence. I always had a lot of faith and sought God a lot in the most difficult times, and I never stopped giving thanks for the good ones. So, to have achieved so many achievements and to get where I am, it was because I didn’t let the obstacles be greater than my persistence.” 10- Could you tell us some accomplishments that you obtained through your work? “I worked for brands that were my favorites since I was a child, I did several magazines and reports, I visited more than 25 countries in 3 years. I currently work in New York, and it has always been my dream to get to know and work there, since in NY models have even more chances of becoming big names.” 11- Last question, but not least: if you could expose a message on a billboard, what would it be? “Trust in yourself, never stop believing in yourself and think you are not capable, because you are!!! Each person is unique and special. Learn to be confident in yourself.”

Aerial acrobatics is not a pure sport because apart from strength and a lot of practice it requires you to act, to "live" in your character on stage. - “I need to lift my nose”, says the Brazilian after going to events with members of the British royal
Photo Disclosure Press Imagining yourself in a luxurious event of select British high society, some of which even count with the presence of members of the royal family, may seem something very distant for any woman who does not have a title behind her surname. But for Brazilian Mirian Carter, 38, no. Natural da Bahia, the digital influencer married an Englishman and moved permanently to the country of the monarchy. From the “sim”, Mirian knew that her life would turn upside down, but despite the infinitely better quality of life in a first world country, she was always attentive to the challenges that faced her. “If he asked me to marry, I have to understand the reality of him. I had a moment of my life that I began to live within English society. I am very preconceived”, says Mirian, who decided to care and face the rejection head on. I was starting to say that I decided that I needed to turn my nose up myself. I had to change my position so as not to be run over. So preconceived for being Brazilian, because of the fame that Brazilians have of destroying marriages. But I managed to excel by my skin, by my natural elegance, because people have an elegance that they see from within, which does not mean expensive clothes or bags. “Minha mãe never taught me to behave, she taught us to be honest”, she tells an influencer. Among the events that she attends, Mirian Carter frequents the remarkable Royal Ascot, famous for the hat parade. “What makes Royal Ascot special is the pageantry and its rich traditions, with visitors wearing their best suits, dresses and, of course, chapels. The Ascot Racecourse was founded over 300 years ago by Rainha Anne, a great horse racing family. Since then, he received or patronized eleven other monarchs. The summer racing received the royal title in 1911 and became one of the two most anticipated sporting events of the year, combining elegant clothing with heritage, bravery and tradition”, she explains. An influencer highlights the importance of this event on the English calendar. “The Royal Ascot is the apex of the British horse racing calendar and the most valuable in the country, with thousands of pounds in prizes. Each day of the racing is traditionally started when His Royal Highness and other members of the Royal Family ride along the track in the traps pulled by horses. This Royal Process originated or began in 1825, when King George IV drove four other carriages with members of the Royal Family for part of the course”. The Brazilian also hosts the 5 Hertford Street Club, the only private club that Prince William frequents to socialize with friends. “William was in this club celebrating the anniversary of a friend, whilst she was with her daughter, who was now 18 years of age. It was in 2019. These clubs are not allowed internal photos. Only members have permission for entry and it is normal to spend a minimum of two years on the waiting list. 5 Hertford Street is the most exclusive and difficult to enter. To gain access to the clubs of British high society as a member you will need two letters of recommendation. “It was necessary to have this recommendation from someone who was already a member. Those people wrote a letter saying that they met me, telling a little about my personal pleasures, about my family, among other things. Some clubs would be able to accept these recommendations and others would not”, says Mirian, who says that before the marriage, her husband was not used to frequenting these places. “At that time my husband has never been in English society. He was always more reserved and, despite never having been free from all that glamor of high society, I was always curious and wanted to understand that world. It was there that I started looking for information on how to start frequenting these clubs. I already met a personal dese meio, who appreciated me very much dear, and made some friends who ended up recommending me ”, she completes.

In recent years, the fight for equal rights and inclusion of LGBTQUIAP+ people has gained more and more space in the media and society in general. In this context, a new model emerges that aims to promote acceptance of these people, encouraging empathy and understanding. The idea is to promote empathy and understanding, showing that each person is unique and has the right to live freely, without prejudice or discrimination. However, despite the advances, the fight for equality is still long and challenging. There are still many cases of prejudice and discrimination against LGBTQUIAP+ people, and it is essential that society engages in this fight for a fairer and more inclusive world. In this way, we need more examples of struggle and courage like Kauan, who overcame his own issues to become a forerunner in the subject and lead as an example people who need shelter, so that they feel encouraged to be who they are! I'm from Salvador Ba: Soteropolitan I currently reside in Italy in Lodi. 2-When did you realize that you did not identify with the norms of gender and/or sexual orientation expected by society? How was that process? Still in childhood, I observed my effeminate aspects, and concluded that society manifested itself retroactively in confrontation with me, very disgusted by the way, it was then that I decided that I needed to deal with self-acceptance, something challenging and that needs to be built over time. of time in the face of much self-knowledge. 3-How do you believe the media can help LGBTQUIAP+ representation? What are your views on the current representation of LGBTQUIAP+ people in the media? Fortunately, we currently have strong personalities on social media, who, like me, are part of the LGBTQIA+ class and daily see some taboos being broken, that is, the media is really of great help! 4-How does your gender identity and/or sexual orientation influence your career as a model? What are the challenges and opportunities you face? Sincerely and honestly, today would be my first questionnaire about, it would really be the first opportunity to be acquired and carried out on top of a real catwalk, as the others were denied to me simply because of my sexual orientation! Unfortunately, there is still a lot of prejudice, but I believe that we are on the right path and are constantly fighting so that future generations do not have to face this type of situation. 5-Have you ever participated in any campaign or project related to the LGBTQUIAP+ cause? How was that experience? What do you hope to achieve with this kind of work? Yes, I have already participated assiduously in several, first LGBTQIAP+ parades, but at the level of Salvadoran neighborhoods, I contributed, bureaucratically (searching for permissions in city halls, and police assistance) for the safety of our movement! 6-What is your message for people who are still discovering themselves and facing difficulties regarding their gender identity and/or sexual orientation? And what impact do you hope to make as an LGBTQUIAP+ model? What do you want to represent to people? Self-acceptance is liberating, a unique and indescribable achievement, I would represent the gay and black class that does everything to go wrong, overcomes and overcomes all obstacles! 7- And last but not least: what is your voice? What would you like to shout out to the world if you had the opportunity? The probability of being happy together is acceptance and respect, because we are all worthy and we can, even if we have different sexual orientation, economic class and skin color, love each other and respect our differences, because learning the unknown is to gain knowledge!
