'STARS' COVER EDITION - OCTOBER 2025 ISSUE

Explosive on stage, magnetic on the dance floor, and innovative in every detail of her artistic aesthetic, Nat Valverde graces the cover of the STARS edition of Hooks Magazine. More than just a DJ, she is a creative force who transforms every performance into a sensory spectacle, merging fashion, music, audiovisuals, and live performance into a captivating fusion.
Born in São Paulo (Brazil), Nat has been establishing herself as one of the leading names in the international electronic music scene. Her journey, which began in São Paulo’s clubs and quickly expanded worldwide, has already taken her to Lisbon, Madrid, Barcelona, Belgium, Australia, the United States, Canada, and South America. Today, she holds the 25th position in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs, a recognition that highlights not only her powerful sound but also her unique artistic identity.

With a style that blends House, Tech House, and the intensity of Melodic House, her sets go beyond the expected. They are immersive experiences where costumes, designed by Nat herself, interact with the beats, while striking visuals create parallel narratives alongside the music. The result is a collective catharsis that extends far beyond the dance floor.
“My creative process always starts with the context: the type of party, the style of the event, the first track that will open the night. Everything needs to connect with the outfit, because I believe each set should tell a story,” Nat explains, revealing how fashion and performance are intertwined in her identity.
Among her references, pop, cinema, and fashion are essential starting points. Iconic divas, runway shows, and even animations bring to life visual scenarios that break from the obvious and become central to her creative vision. “I like to seek unexpected inspirations because I always want to bring something unique and innovative to the audience,” she says.

Authenticity is, without a doubt, her strongest trademark. It’s what has allowed Nat to share the stage with names like Vintage Culture, Bruno Be, Carola, and Pontifexx, and it’s also what makes her unforgettable at the major festivals she plays. “A true connection only happens when you are genuine. Following trends or copying what already exists doesn’t work. The audience can feel when you’re bringing your essence to the stage,” she says.
Exclusive Interview:
1. How does your creative process begin when transforming each costume into part of the narrative of your shows?
“My creative process starts with analyzing various factors, such as the type of party — whether it’s during the day or at night — the musical style, and the theme of the event. In addition, I follow the different phases of my career, creating a unique costume style that adapts to each occasion. I believe that the introduction, the first track of the set, must interact with the chosen outfit, because I’ve always sought to tell a story through both music and clothing. This connection between costume and narrative is fundamental for me.”

2. What art and film references influence the construction of your live sets and visuals?
“Without a doubt, my artistic and cinematic references play a crucial role in shaping my sets and visuals. I draw inspiration from pop divas, while also keeping up with fashion trends and runway shows. Cinema is also a rich source of ideas; often, I find inspiration in films or even animations. I like to explore unexpected references, stepping away from the conventional in the electronic scene. This allows me to bring something truly unique and innovative to my looks.”
3. When did you realize your sound had truly reached an international audience?
“My journey unfolded quickly, and my first international trip, to Argentina, happened just a few months after I started performing. That experience opened doors to many opportunities. From the beginning, my work stood out for its thematic performances and elaborate costumes, which drew the attention of both audiences and producers. This uniqueness certainly helped my sound reach a wider audience and go viral.”

4. What can we expect from the new sound of your upcoming tour, and how does it align with your current identity?
“This is an exciting question because I’m going through a transitional moment in my career, introducing a new sound to reach new audiences. While I want to continue connecting with the fans who already follow me, I also dream of expanding my reach by exploring different facets of House and Tech House, even though I’ve always performed these styles. This second half of the year, we’re developing some innovative projects that I can’t reveal yet, but I’m eager to share them soon. My goal is to maintain a strong and authentic identity, bringing my aesthetic and musical references into these new experiences without losing the essence that defines me.”

5. What is the secret to maintaining an intense connection with the audience, even at large festivals?
“For me, the secret to maintaining a strong connection with the audience, even at major festivals, is always being authentic. It may sound cliché, but it’s absolutely true: bringing your essence to the stage is essential. If you try to fit into standards or copy what’s already been done, it won’t resonate with people. True connection happens when you perform genuinely, whether your style is bold or unconventional. Authenticity is what truly sets each artist apart and ensures a meaningful bond with the audience.”
