In a significant shift within the fashion industry, Pierpaolo Piccioli has been appointed as the new Creative Director of Balenciaga, effective July 10, 2025. This transition follows Demna’s move to Gucci, marking a new era for the Kering-owned brand.

Piccioli, renowned for his tenure at Valentino, where he served as sole creative director for nearly a decade, is celebrated for his romantic aesthetic, vibrant color palettes, and inclusive designs. His work at Valentino, including the iconic “Pink PP” collection, resonated with a younger audience and redefined modern couture.

Balenciaga, under Demna’s direction, became synonymous with avant-garde and provocative designs. Piccioli’s appointment signals a potential return to the brand’s roots, emphasizing craftsmanship and emotional resonance. His debut collection is anticipated during the Spring 2026 Paris Fashion Week in October.

This leadership change aligns with Kering’s strategic efforts to rejuvenate its brands amid a challenging luxury market. Piccioli’s vision is expected to blend Balenciaga’s heritage with contemporary sensibilities, ushering in a new chapter for the iconic fashion house.

As the fashion world awaits Piccioli’s inaugural collection, his appointment is poised to redefine Balenciaga’s identity, balancing tradition with innovation.
