  • Débora Saraiva: From the Interior of Bahia to Fashion Stardom - A Journey of Determination and Style

‘BRAZIL’ COVER EDITION - DECEMBER ISSUE Photos: Douglas Moreira - @douglasmoreirastudio Hair: Dougllas Dias - @dougllas Look: CHART - @charthoficial - @theclosetjf Design Director Hooks: Matheus Lopes Editor-In-Chief: Matheus Hooks Débora Saraiva , the inspiring young woman who left behind the interior of Bahia, a small town with about 10,000 inhabitants, to venture alone to São Paulo in pursuit of her dreams. Courage brought her to the big city as a model, and over the years, she carved out her space. A graduate in fashion from FAAP, at 26 years old, and with a background in Marketing. Her journey is marked by sweetness, dedication, and, above all, humility. Débora not only captivated brands and followers but became a voice for those seeking inspiration from stories similar to hers. "Do your best in the condition you have until you have better conditions to do even better," is the motto she carries with her, a powerful philosophy from Mário Sérgio Cortella . Leaving the interior to pursue a modeling career in São Paulo, Débora faced monumental challenges. But courage was her ally. Débora believes in the beauty of being unique, even in a scenario where many project an unreal image of themselves. Read the exclusive interview with Débora below: 1. What were the greatest challenges you faced when leaving the interior of Bahia to pursue a modeling career in São Paulo? Embarking on the journey from Bahia to São Paulo in pursuit of a modeling career presented monumental challenges. Without support, encouragement, or assurances of work from friends and family, my greatest obstacle was learning to be courageous in an environment I consider worlds apart, coming from a small town with just ten thousand inhabitants! 2. How did your fashion education at FAAP contribute to your professional growth and influence in the industry? My fashion education at FAAP was a fundamental piece for my professional growth. It shaped my mind and perception of fashion, making everything more accessible and light after graduation. 3. Tell us about your experience as an influencer and how you use this platform to inspire people with similar stories to yours. As an influencer, I discovered my happiness in doing what I love. I've met incredible people, owners of brands who have become great friends, and whom I deeply admire. Nothing has been easy up to this point; I know I'm only just beginning, and there's still much to learn and experience. My message to those starting now: "If you get tired, learn to rest, not to give up." 4. In addition to fashion, you are pursuing another degree in marketing. How does this second education influence your approach as an influencer? In addition to fashion, my marketing education profoundly influences my approach as an influencer. From the very first day I started working with Instagram, I realized that marketing is intrinsically present in everything we do. 5. How do you balance the sweetness and dedication that brands admire in you with the demands of the digital world and your career as an influencer? Balancing the sweetness and dedication admired by brands in the digital world is simply by being myself. In a scenario where many project an unreal image of themselves, I believe in the beauty of being unique. If you are born a beautiful lotus flower, don't try to be another flower, be a beautiful lotus flower! 6. The quote from Mário Sérgio Cortella that you mentioned is powerful. How has it become a motto in your life and professional journey? The powerful quote from Mário Sérgio Cortella has become my motto. I encountered it three years ago, and it has stayed with me ever since. As a perfectionist Virgo, I tend to be overly self-critical, but someone very special once told me: if you stop doing things or delivering projects because they didn't turn out perfect in your eyes or as you wanted, you will never grow. You need to do to learn; you just need to do, and the more you do, the more perfect it will become! I learned that doing, learning, and evolving are essential, even if the result isn't perfect in my eyes. I hold that close to my heart.

  • Interview with Dua Lipa - Yves Saint Laurent Beauté launches new LIBRE campaign

By Matheus Hooks More epic than ever, Dua Lipa personifies the libre woman, who has an urgent need for freedom now. Promotional photos Yves Saint Laurent Beauté The newest and thrilling LIBRE campaign starring songwriter and Yves Saint Laurent ambassador, Dua Lipa, is directed for the first time by a woman, the renowned Nigerian-British director, Jenn Nkiru. For her, LIBRE is not just a fragrance, it is a feeling, an invitation to be bold, challenge norms, and live freely. According to Jenn, "I connected with the new campaign—a celebration of freedom and femininity. Life and existence are about the pursuit of FREEDOM, about living to the fullest. I wanted to bottle all that energy of the fragrance and pour it into the film." How has the experience of representing YSL's LIBRE been? "It's an incredible experience to represent a fragrance like LIBRE. I feel so connected to it because it's fearless and represents positive values that truly resonate with women all around the world. It truly inspires me to expand upon this idea of burning freedom, and I would love for every woman to truly embody it every day," says Dua Lipa. For Yves Saint Laurent Beauté, Jenn Nkiru and Dua Lipa delivered the most epic campaign ever for LIBRE, with Dua Lipa singing a cover of the iconic song "Freedom!" by George Michael, turning it into an anthem of freedom for LIBRE women around the world. The LIBRE woman, portrayed by Dua Lipa, is a woman who dances to her own rhythm and lives each moment to the fullest. What does being LIBRE mean to you? "We walk for our freedom; we fight for our freedom. We feel the need to live, in the most authentic and true way possible. I live my freedom by being myself, by staying true to who I am, as a person and as an artist," says Dua. In the new film, Dua Lipa is captured amidst natural and urban landscapes, in a series of stunning images that combine freedom with the power of natural elements: sun, sky, sand, and water. The campaign film begins at the top of a lighthouse, bathed in the golden light of the morning, as an eagle perfectly lands on Dua Lipa's arm. In the following sequence, the protagonist of the ad is seen dancing in the midst of the city, under the tropical rain as if no one is watching, and then walking completely alone and free on the beach, with her feet in the waves of the ocean, surrendering to the natural elements of the earth. This time with brown hair, standing in front of the giant letters spelling out L-I-B-R-E ablaze against the night sky, and at the height of her freedom, Dua stands still in front of the flames and releases a powerful and fierce scream, a roar of freedom shattering any last piece of restraint. Expressing the desire to live LIBRE now because freedom does not wait. Embracing the new motto of LIBRE, "Freedom doesn't wait," what is your definition of the campaign concept? "The concept truly represents the inner fire of the LIBRE woman, her insatiable thirst for freedom, and her incandescent soul. The truth is, there is no one way to be free, but each one of us can and should find our own path without compromise or fear. Always unapologetic for being ourselves." The LIBRE line features the Eau de Parfum version launched in 2020, representing the desire for freedom, the Eau de Parfum Intense released in 2021, which expresses the roar of freedom, and the latest release, the Eau de Toilette, inviting you to live a filter-free freedom. • Explore the World with content creator Jessica Barros: Cover of the 'LONDON' Edition

‘LONDON’ COVER EDITION - DECEMBER ISSUE Photographer: Carlos Moura Design Director Cover: Matheus Lopes Editor in Chief: Matheus Hooks Embark on a unique journey with Jessica Barros, the explorer of exotic destinations and content creator who has captured our hearts. In the special 'LONDON' edition of December in Hooks Magazine, we delve into the fascinating experiences of this passionate traveler. In our exclusive interview, Jessica revealed the surprising impact of her first trip to Europe, a time when curiosity outweighed the ease of social media. Facing challenges, she built lasting friendships and found her home away from home. An unforgettable box of surprises that shaped her love for exploration. The excitement reached its peak when Jessica shared her experience at the pyramids of Egypt, turning the pages of the books she studied intensely during her school years into real and profound experiences. As we discuss her desired future destinations, Jessica reveals her fascination with Japan, the Great Wall of China, and the quest for the unique energy of Bali. A list that reflects her passion for diverse cultures and authentic experiences. Want to know more about Jessica Barros? Check out the exclusive interview with the content creator below: 1. Jessica, what was the most surprising trip for you so far and why? The most surprising trip for me was the first time I visited Europe. At that time, there were no social media platforms to peek into what was happening on the other side of the continent, not even the internet. Nevertheless, I followed my intuition, faced challenges, and went beyond what I imagined. I met wonderful people, made friendships that I cherish to this day, and continued to live here. It was an unpredictable box of surprises but unforgettable. 2. Tell us about a unique experience you had in a destination you visited? It was when I visited the pyramids of Egypt. I was deeply moved because during my school years, I studied the history of the Egyptian people intensely. History was the subject I loved studying the most, and now I understand why. Before, I traveled through books; now, I can live what I studied. 3. What are the top three destinations on your list to visit in the future? At the top of my list is Japan, for its evolved culture, and the opportunity to visit the Great Wall of China. In the Asian continent, Bali, where I plan to connect with its unique energy. 4. How do you deal with the challenges of balancing the life of a traveler with content creation? I don't see it as a challenge; on the contrary, I enjoy it a lot. Receiving messages from people who feel present in my travels is gratifying and inspiring. Making the journey a shared experience is thrilling. 5. Is there any culture or tradition that you have experienced during your travels that has left a profound mark on you? Not yet, but I'm sure I will find something significant on my future list. I am preparing myself psychologically because adventures are part of the show. 6. With so many incredible places already visited, how do you choose the destinations for your upcoming videos or posts? Destinations come up randomly, but sometimes they are already scheduled. At the beginning of the year, I make a list with trips, projects, and other plans. I look for dates that match a tropical climate since I'm not a fan of the cold, and most destinations are beachy. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a 2024 full of travels and enriching stories because knowledge is the jewel that no one can steal. Happy 2024. Jessica Barros

  • Giselle Leite: A Journey of Versatility and Entrepreneurship in Hooks Magazine

BUSINESS COVER EDITION - NOVEMBER ISSUE Direction: Mariana Poerschke - @maripoerschke Photographer: Sue Cervelin - @suecervelinphotography Beauty: Tauana wanzeler - @tauanawanzeler Design Director Hooks: Matheus Lopes - @mathlopes In the November "Business" edition of Hooks Magazine, we are pleased to introduce Giselle Leite, a figure whose journey is a fascinating mosaic of talent, resilience, and entrepreneurship. A native of São Paulo, Giselle defies the expectations of a traditional family of doctors and lawyers by following her heart in the pursuit of art. Her story is marked by bold choices, from simultaneously studying law and performing arts to gracing the stages as an actress for over a decade. The theater not only inspired her artistically but also propelled her to explore the complexity of the human mind, leading her on a journey of self-discovery. Her remarkable academic journey includes a master's degree at the prestigious Harvard University and a stint as a guest lecturer at Boston University, where she excelled in the field of Life Coaching. The twist brought about by the pandemic may have disrupted plans, but for Giselle, it was an opportunity for reinvention. Thus, UP2U Fitness was born, a brand of leggings with high compression technology, making a mark in the fitness fashion scene. Furthermore, Giselle stands out as an active communicator, delving into crucial topics, especially on her podcast "The Female Truth." Addressing feminism and relevant issues, she positions herself as an authentic and enlightening voice in a world of often polarized discussions. We conducted an exclusive interview with Giselle, check it out below: 1. Giselle, your journey is incredible! How was the transition from actress to psychologist and, later, to an entrepreneur in the fitness fashion and international consulting industry? I can't say it was easy; I was afraid of giving up on being an actress. I went through depression, but immediately sought professionals who could help me with my mental health, understanding that I wasn't in my normal state. During this time, I realized that everything I studied and worked on as an actress would only help and empower me for my new dreams and goals for success. 2. Congratulations on your success at Boston University and the creation of UP2U fitness. Could you share more about how the idea of leggings with high compression technology came about and how this project fits into your journey? My mind never stops. I often say I have multiple personas and always like to be creating something, especially in terms of business. I'm a person with a lot of ambition. The idea came about because, in the middle of quarantine, we weren't dressing up, and I felt we needed something beautiful and comfortable. In the end, everything fits together because it requires a lot of work and creation in the way I like to live. 3. The move to the United States brought unexpected challenges. How did you deal with the upheaval caused by the pandemic, and how did it impact your professional choices? It was a shock. I was lost for about two months, but my ambition always spoke louder; the desire to do and be always screams. With that, I studied strategies to turn things around. I always answer questions like this with a phrase that I have in my head: "While some cry, others sell handkerchiefs; which part are you?" That entered my mind and never left. 4. In addition to entrepreneurship, you are also an active communicator, addressing important topics such as feminism on your podcast. What motivated you to create "The Female Truth," and how do you hope it will impact your listeners? I come from the theater, where I did impactful plays, such as those by Nelson Rodrigues. Studying psychology, I saw that we are heading towards a path where if one person disagrees, another thinks they are against each other. And I don't see the world that way; we can't see the world that way. Everyone has their opinion based on their experiences. I spent almost a year studying feminism and interviewed 132 women to be able to speak with authority. We can't impose anything. Everyone has their truth. That's why I created The Female Truth. I want to impact by saying that if X doesn't agree with Y, no one is against anyone, and each truth is individual. I think we shouldn't impose our experiences as truth but always inspire understanding and healing our traumas on this journey of life. 5. Your role as a bridge for people wishing to migrate or start businesses in the USA is fascinating. How do you develop personalized paths for your clients, and what is the greatest satisfaction you find in this role? This work, I can say, is quite common here. But I thought about the differential where I connect professionals and specific places based on what the person or family already experiences, so they don't suffer so much cultural impact. And being able to see the person living well is my greatest satisfaction in a completed job. 6. Coming from a family of doctors and lawyers, how was the decision-making process in choosing such a unique trajectory, especially focused on art and entrepreneurship? It wasn't easy at all. I don't say that my family was against it, but they were never in favor of my life as an actress either. But thanks to that, I always had an ambitious mind, always with plans B, C, and D, to start over if something didn't work out. I believe that everything works out. Success is something that God sends to say, "This is your mission," or sends no success to say, "This is not your mission." So, I always had that very clear in my journey. Today, my family understands that I am not and will not be a one-dimensional person living in a closed box. I am multiple personas with the ability to engage in various different businesses. Always thinking about tomorrow, the new, and completely thinking outside the box!
